Chapter 15
I wake up to find Tim asleep beside me. I look around and realize we're in the cabin. Now I remember everything. It must've meant that the amnesia wore off.
I squirm a little and Tim wakes up and stretches. A smile appears on his face. "Good morning beautiful." He said that with a groggy voice. I couldn't help but smile. I could feel myself blush when he said that, which made his smile go even wider.
His black hair was a mess and his green eyes were bright and full of joy. He was happy. I haven't seen that in awhile. I actually missed the other side of him, but I didn't seem to mind this side too.
He slowly stood up and picked me up and spun me around. He kissed me on the nose, and told me he was going to go change so he could take me to who could help me figure out who could help me.
He disappears into the bathroom and I go over and grab a brush to brush my hair. When he comes out I go and put on some clothes. Today I decided with skinny jeans and a Disney shirt with Mickey and Minnie on it.
When I come out of the bathroom Tim smiles widely. He comes over and takes my hand and we head out of the door.
I thought maybe this guy would be inside the village, so I got confused when Tim led me out of the village and through the forest. He led me into a clearing where there was a small house at the end.
I felt like I was shrinking because everything seemed to get bigger as we neared the house. The trees got taller. The grasses got taller until it was taller then me. I could see mushrooms that went up to my waist. I look around confused.
I think Tim saw I was confused because he smirked a little and kept going towards the house. When we got up there, it was bigger then I thought. There was vines around the house making it look old. Maybe even enchanted.
He smiles and turns to look me in the eyes. "Now remember this, don't say anything. He isn't exactly the type of person that talks to people." With that he kissed my on the forehead and led me inside.
When we stepped inside I could smell mildew and dust. I could tell that this is probably at least a few hundred years old, but defiantly older then us. Maybe older then my parents and his parents, but I knew it wasn't those old library's you'd find in a small town.
As we step inside, I take a look around and I can see the bookshelves going all along the walls. Tons of books filled them, but a lot of books were scattered everywhere with stacks halfway to the top of the roof. There were a few trophies scattered around on tables and on the floors. There was a staircase going up to a second floor and a staircase going down into the basement. Something told me down there held my answers.
We walked farther in and Tim's face went stern. I grab onto him arm and stay close to him. His voice was deep and booming. "We need your help Leon. Come down."
Suddenly your hear booming footsteps coming down a flight of stairs behind a couple stacks of books. The footsteps get closer and closer until finally the ground around us is shaking. "Who dares enter my library?" I begin shaking a bit and stick closer to Tim. He kinda scared me to be honest.
"Cut the act Leon. It's Tim. This young lady beside me is Kim." You hear a deep sigh and the footsteps continue down the steps until whoever is was rounds the corner. He looked about 4 feet tall and had big shoulders. The first thing that came to mind was a dwarf. "Kim, this is Leon. He is a dwarf book keeper. He is. . . Well lets just say young. He should be able to help you. "
I look at the little man standing in front of me. What could he mean by "young"? Was he over a hundred years old or something. The man comes up to me and looks up at me. His eyes go wide and full of shock and wonder.
"What your name Miss. Kim?" I was a little shock that his voice wasn't as deep as it sounded. It must've been the echoing of the building, but it's not empty, so it wouldn't be from an echo.
I was a little scared to say something to this man. Since he asked a question, I decided to answer, but not very loudly. Almost a whisper. "My name is Kim. Kim Hall." As soon as I said my last his eyes went wider. He asked Tim if he could talk to him and Tim kisses me on the head and stepped aside with Leon. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but when they came back, Leon just smiled.
"I'll help you look for what you need. I saw a book somewhere around her. I. . . Well I just can't remember where." He runs his fingers through his hard and begins looking around. Tim is holding back a smile but says that we'll help him search.
"What did the book look like?" I asked still a little suspicious about the way he had acted.
He looks at me and his eyes light up. He nods at me, almost like a bow and then talks in an almost quiet voice. "It was big and blue. It had vines wrapped around it." I smile and touch his shoulder. I thank him and we all begin looking.
We saw books of all sizes. We looked upstairs and anywhere where we had been. I had lost track of time and found myself becoming sleepy. Every once in awhile I would end up falling asleep when we took breaks. Tim was about to give up, along with Leon until I asked them about downstairs. Leon looked puzzled at me. "We haven't been down there in years. I don't think there's any books down there."
I refused to let that get me from going down there. I stand up and begin walking off. Tim is calling my name but I ignore it, determined to find something about my family. Anything. Anything at all.
I strode down into the basement. The stairs creaked and whined as I went down the stairs. I hear Tim and Leon follow me down the stairs cautious of the stairs.
"Kim. Leon doesn't think there's anything down here. C'mon."
I ignored Tim and kept going down the stairs. When I hit the bottom there were cobwebs everywhere. I looked around and saw the empty shelves. It hit me like a rock. I can't believe I was wrong, but something was telling me to go forward. I followed what I felt and began walking through the aisles. Tim and Leon chasing me through as I'm walking.
Finally the feeling was stronger then ever and I stopped. I looked at the two shelves that stood on either side of me to find nothing there. Where could it be? I take a small step forward and I feel a tingling up my leg. I back up and bend down to inspect the floor.
Finally Tim and Leon catch up to me. They were breathing hard like they just ran a marathon. "Kim! You were moving so fast. What's going on?"
I look at them and smile. "I think I found our book."
