34 - One Day More

Yesterday, I asked her to be my girlfriend.

She gave me a clear and heartbreaking NO.

And now Mika's here, asking me to be her husband?

I had to pinch myself to make sure it wasn't an effect of last night's alcohol.

But when I looked down, I knew this is real.

She's holding my hands so tightly, and there, on her ring finger was the silver band that I got for her. The diamond shone before my eyes, as if telling me that my beloved is ready to accept me in her life.

I helped her get up from the floor and brushed away the tiny strands of hair that covered her beautiful face.

Still using my hands, I gently wiped the tears that continued to flow from her eyes.

"Ssssshhhh... Stop crying...", I said softly.

If she only knew, it makes me feel useless when I see her sad. Because I've already established that my purpose is to make her happy.

"Alam kong hindi madali yung hinihingi ko sayo...", Mika began to speak again.

"Mika.", I said firmly.

She held her breath, as if waiting for a verdict.

"I'm willing to marry you."

For seconds, she remained staring at me, wide-eyed.

"Wha... what?"

"Papakasalan kita."

"A... anong... Anong kapalit?"

I looked away as her question ripped my heart again into a thousand pieces.

Lahat na ba ng gagawin ko para sa kanya, iisipin niyang may kapalit?

Can't I love her unconditionally?

I don't know what got into me pero pinili ko siyang sakyan.

"I'll let you know.", I responded.

Mika nodded her head.

"Since this is about your company, we need to get married as soon as possible. Your father's position cannot remain vacant for long, especially if we want to pursue the expansion in the south that he has started."

If Mika came here for business, I'll give her that.

It won't be easy, but I will do anything and everything to regain her trust. Even if I need to start back at zero.

Para akong may kausap na ibang tao habang pinag-uusapan namin ni Jeron ang kasal.

He isn't the mahangin and carefree guy that I know. Ni hindi siya ngumingiti.

Ngayon ko lang na-witness yung businessman side niya. He was very specific about our plans and preparations. Time, place, people involved...

And so unlike other weddings na babae yung hands-on, itong sa amin parang wala akong maibigay na input. Ngayon lang nag-sisink in yung decision na ginawa ko, at yung sagot niya.

With our current situation, will we really be able to pull this off?
