43 - From the Heart

"The last question is for Ms. Mika.", the interviewer named Emily said.

Mika would lie if she'd say that there's not a hint of nervousness in her body.

Dahil ang totoo, kanina pa siya kinakabahan sa interview. Although Jeron did most of the answering, still it's a fact that she's not at ease with talking about her life in public. Hell, she's not comfortable in talking about anything with people she's not close with. Extroverted introvert, as they call it.

It also didn't help that she's still not in the best terms with the man beside her.

Mika heard him, loud and clear.

Pero hindi niya alam kung paano mag-rereact.

She should be happy, right? Because he felt the same way. She has already thrown her doubts in the air about Jeron's feelings for her.

Kaya lang hindi naman normal yung condition ngayon eh. What if dala lang ng galit kaya niya nasabi yun?

"We can't trust our words when we're angry.", Mika thought.

She was contemplating on what her response should be when she heard soft snores.

Her husband's asleep.

"Bukas na lang.", Mika said to herself.

But it didn't happen.

Jeron avoided her. He would go to the office early, and come home quite late. Pagdating naman nito ay dumiderecho na 'to sa kama para matulog.

Pinatigil na rin siya nito bilang secretary.

"Kung di ko lang alam na nakabalik na si Ate Angel, iisipin kong na-sisante ako dahil sa away namin.", Mika mentally scolded herself again, remembering her mistake.

After the long waiting game, the time came when he finally talked to her.

"Just to let you know, Fortune magazine wants to feature us in their issue this month. About the business daw, our home and personal lives na rin. But you have nothing to worry about. Tomorrow I'll decline the offer, since I know hindi ka naman kumportable sa ganon. Gusto ko lang i-inform ka."

Mika felt all the more terrible about herself. There's Jeron, opening almost everything they need to decide about, while here she is, failing to tell him the things he needed to know.

"Don't.", she suddenly blurted out.

"Huh?"

"Wag tayong mag-decline. Let's do the interview."

"Are you sure?", Jeron asked again. He couldn't believe it.

"Sa akin nga lang, ayaw nitong mag-kwento tapos ngayon, she's willing to be interviewed?", Jeron thought.

"Fine. If that's what you want.", he conceded anyway.

"What made you fall in love with your husband?", Emily asked Mika.

Jeron felt his wife's body stiffen upon hearing the question.
