MIKA

My classes ended earlier than expected. Quota na ako sa surprises today talaga, remembering the mail I got this morning.

I fumbled through my bag and brought out the letter.

Hmmm... Puntahan ko kaya?

"Ye!", Tori called my attention.

"What's that?", she asked.

"Ha? Ito? Wala, wala. Invite lang for job interview.", I answered.

"Wow ah! Kaya mo pa ba?", nag-aalala niyang tanong.

I shrugged my shoulders.

"Kakayanin. Tingnan ko muna. Hindi ko pa rin naman alam kung gaano kabigat eh."

"Sige. Just don't overwork yourself, okay? Ano, sama ka mag-lunch?", yaya niya sa akin.

"Hindi na siguro. You guys go ahead. Thanks, Tori!"

Sumabay na lang ako sa kanila palabas ng campus and rode a cab to Flavors of the East.

It took me around 20 minutes to get to the place because of the relatively fair distance and traffic.

Accessibility, check.

Pagbaba ko ng taxi, bumungad sa akin ang isang fine dining Chinese restaurant.

Through the glass walls, I could feel the serene ambiance of the place and the warmth of the people by looking at their smiles.

It's the kind of place you would want to go to with your families, celebrating milestones and memorable life events.

Na-miss ko tuloy bigla pamilya ko...

I took a deep breath before making my way to the door.

The guard opened it and an usher approached me. She's wearing a red Chinese attire, one usually seen at a typical Chinese resto.

"Welcome to FEast!", she greeted and bowed her head.

When she looked up, parang gulat na gulat siyang makita ako.

"Miss Mika?!", bigla niyang nasabi.

Huh? Magkakilala ba kami?

Did she work for my parents? But even so, I don't think makikilala ako ng kahit sino doon.

"Uhm, sorry pero... magkakilala ba tayo?"

I then realized that the rest of the employees were looking at our direction.

"Ah... eh... Yung nameplate niyo po, Ma'am. Med student po pala kayo. Ang galing!", she answered as she stared at the right side of my chest where the nameplate was pinned.

Ahhh... Oo nga naman, naka-school uniform pa pala ako.

I smiled in response.

"Bale, ngayon na po kayo magsstart?", she asked with a soft glow in her eyes.

My forehead creased upon hearing her question though.

Alam ba niyang mag-aapply ako dito?

Another lady in red uniform came to us and went to the usher's side.
