"Hey babe, can I bring out the ping pong table?" Jaime grinned as he slid into the kitchen, almost knocking the cake out of hands.

"Whoa whoa whoa." I said as I tried to save the cake double decker chocolate lava cake Erin had made for the boy's birthday.

Oops," Jaime said as he effortlessly picked up the plate out of my hands and kissed me, "So yes or no." He bounced.

I cocked an eyebrow at him, he was still the bouncy, high energy jumping bean I met 18 years ago..

"Yeah yeah, I guess that's fine," I nodded, "get Lex to help you, Hey Lex!" I called from the kitchen, wondering where my son was at.

Before I knew it, one tall grown ass man and a 16 year old boy came sliding I to the kitchen, almost knocking my cake out of Jaime's hands, "Yeah?" They both grinned.

"Alex Gaskarth, I wasn't calling you," I rolled my eyes with a laugh.

"Hey, not my fault you halfway named your kid after me." He laughed leaned on the counter.

I looked to Calyx, he was 16 today. Where did the time go? He definitely looked like his father, no doubt about that, except for a few features that resembled me, but he definitely was his fathers boy.

"Whatdya need, mom?" He asked, stealing a soda from the fridge and cracking it open.

"Oh, could you help you father pull the ping pong table up from the basement?"

"Fuck yeah!" He bolted out of the kitchen and followed Jaime down the stairs

"LANGUAGE YOUNG MAN." I tried to reprimand him, but you know how the Preciado boys are, they do what they want.

Calyx looked exactly like his dad, other than the light never tannable skin, my nose, and my side of the family's eyes... everything else was all Jaime, the hair, the personality... true definition of a mini-me, well, mini-Jaime.

Jaime and I were like the couple who never left the honeymoon phase. We're in our 40s now and we still act the way when we were in our 20s, free spirited and fully in love with one another. We have our moments when I just want to rip his younger out and throw it to the wolves, but then he does something dumb to make me laugh and forget about everything he did to make me mad in the first place.

Pierce The Veil decided to take a hiatus about 7 years ago, mostly to focus more on family instead of being on the road all the time... by that time I didn't there was a city on the map they hadn't visited at least twice, playing for all their fans across the globe.

I heard a bang and an "I'm okay" come muffled through the basement door, I opened it up to see Jaime flat on his ass, Calyx laughing and the ping pong table somehow halfway into the fish tank that was thankfully fish-free at the time.

"What the hell happened?" I tried to act concerned as I headed down the stair and to Jaime's side, but giggles escaped my pursed lips.

"There was a spider on the ping pong table... i got scared..." Jaime admitted looking down.

"I spider, really?" I asked more goggles escaping my lips

"You know my fear, woman!"

I rolled my eyes and helped him up, kidding his cheek and laughed "a ridiculous fear at that."

"You should have heard his scream, mom... it sounded like uncle Kellin," Calyx laughed, heading past us to maneuver the ping pong table out of the fish tank.

I helped get it upstairs, and all in once price thank god.

"Happy Birthday To youuu...
Felix cumpleãnos a tu...
Happy Birthday to Jaime and Caaaallyx.

Happy birthday to you."

The 40 some odd people sang in our gazebo covered back yard, Mike and Tony carrying out the cake, and Dane had two pies which I took from him as I stood behind Jaime and Calyx. "Happy Birthday Boys." I smiled

"Look at the camera!" Alysha yelled, her little girl still clinging to her leg.

The boys turned around and as they did, I smooshed the whipped cream pies in their faces, seeing the flash from Alysha's camera go off and everyone's laughed roar above anything else.

Jaime and Calyx both looked at me, then each other and nodded silently, next thing I knew I had Jaime smooshing his face with mine and Calyx lifting me up over his shoulder. How the hell did my son get so strong?

"No no no no!" I screamed with laughter as they brought me closer and closer to the pools edge.  "Calyx, you throw me in there and your Prom privileges are taken away,." I said sternly. Calyx looked to his dad and Jaime just shrugged,m and nodded approvingly.

"Proceed"

And into the icy water I went.

That's basically a normal day in the life at the Preciados...

But hey, it's my life.
