Celeste's POV

I leaned my burning cheek against Lycer's seemingly freezing cold skin. At first when I felt as if it was a hundred degrees outside I pushed off the coat that Lycer put on me, but then it felt as if I was being soaked in ice water. I'd rather be burning hot than freezing cold.

"How are you feeling Celestial? Any better?" I looked up to Lycer who was looking ahead. He seemed to know where he was going and I was hoping he did. I miss Xavier and I want nothing more than to be lying in bed with him, watching television, and having Xavier give me chocolate covered strawberries. He had given me chocolate strawberries every time that I had trouble sleeping and we would stay up until there weren't any more and I had grown tired.

"I don't feel like I am going to puke on you anymore but that's about it." He nodded and went to put his hand on my back but then thought better of it. My back was starting to become numb but if I tried to turn my entire back would flare up with pain.

"Well that's good, it means your mate bond can sense that you won't be apart for much longer." I smiled at that thought. I wouldn't be away from Xavier for much longer.

"Lycer?" He hummed in response. "What did Malum want?"

"He wanted to know a secret that could change everything for him." Well I guessed that much. He kept talking about a secret and I figured that if it wasn't that important Malum wouldn't care.

"What's the secret?" He shook his head and looked towards some of the lower hanging tree branches. I could basically feel his desire to go climbing in the trees. That had always been one of his favorite things to do.

"You don't need to worry about that Celestial." I felt anger go through me but I bit my tongue. I closed my eyes and ignored him, taking in the sounds of nature. I could hear birds chirping as the sun made its way up the sky. I could hear animals running through the forest making me want to chase them but I knew it would hurt right now.

"I'm sorry Celestial," Lycer said sincerely. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. "I never intended for you to get involved with this. That's why I told you to run, so what was left of your pack could protect you at least from Malum. And I figured that you would find your mate one day and then he, or she if it went that way for you, then they could protect you. And then there would be a day when Malum met his fate and I could go and find you again. It wasn't supposed to be like this."

I sighed and wrapped my arm tighter around his neck as I started to cough again. I brought up one of my hands to my lips so I wouldn't get blood on him.

"Your mate is in Paramount pack right?" I nodded after I stopped coughing. "Let's stop at the closest town and I get some things." I knew he meant stealing but I didn't mind. I had grown used to stealing clothes, food when it's needed, and other supplies. We mainly got medical supplies like bandages and other things to treat cuts as we didn't usually have problems other than cuts.

We walked for awhile longer before Lycer stopped at a clearing. He set me down and sat in front of me. I laid on my side so I wouldn't hit my back and clutched the coat closer to me.

"How's your back feeling?" I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath only to feel slight pain.

"It's fine for now. Just go, I'll be here when you get back." I could see the reluctance in his eyes but he nodded anyways. He got up and hesitated before walking away. He stopped and turned back around to me.

"Stay safe, okay?" I nodded. "And if you see someone who isn't me I want you to run even if it hurts. I'll find you if it comes to that." I smiled slightly at him.

"I'll be fine Lycer, stop worrying." He chuckled.

"I'm your protector, that's my job." I rolled my eyes at him and he chuckled some more. In that moment he seemed like the sweet careless boy that I met. His dirty blonde hair was shining in the sun that came through the trees and his smile seemed to glow.

"Go on. Get out of here and bring me back something chocolate." He chuckled again and walked away. I closed my eyes and thought of Xavier.

"Do you see those ones up there," he pointed to a few stars and I nodded. "That's Cygnus the swan."

"It's beautiful."

"Not as beautiful as you."

I smiled, missing his cheesiness that so rarely came out.

"You really are beautiful Celeste. Did you know that?"

Even though I am not a fan of compliments, because they always make me blush, I still missed them. Sometimes I would wake up to him leaving soft kisses on my neck and he would shower me with little compliments as he went along until he reached my lips.

"She's really pretty!" I blushed as I heard the words that Delian failed to whisper.

Xavier chuckled, "I think so too."

I even missed little Delian. I don't blame her for tricking me to go out in the woods. She said they threatened her mother. If my mother was still here and someone threatened her, I would give up just about anything or just about anyone. I love her and I always will.

'Celeste, it's time I meet back up with your dad.'

I opened my eyes as I bit back my tears. I really do miss my parents.

"Celestial?" I looked up to see Lycer with his arms full of things. He set them down and sat down in front of me. "Are you okay?" I nodded. "I brought chocolate," he said putting the chocolate in front of me. I smiled and snatched it from him.
