Xavier's POV

I stared at Celeste as she laid down on the couch in my office. She was reading the book that she had taken from the library, "Pride and Prejudice." Every now and then she would laugh and then flinch. I had already asked Zay if there was anything she could do but she was busy sewing up a training accident between four people. Hopefully she would be free soon to help Celeste.

"Xavier?" I looked at Celeste and she smiled at me. "Will can we just lay in bed and watch movies?" I sighed and shook my head.

"I wish I could little one but I have a lot of work that needs to be caught up on." The disappointment in her eyes made me want to apologize for everything wrong in the universe. Knowing she would never let me do that I quickly made a pile of the most important things that absolutely needed to be done.

"Fine but I have to take some work with me." I looked up at her to see a huge smile growing on her face. I stood up and walked over to the couch before she could even think about getting up. "Hold this," I said handing her the paper work. She took it with a confused look on her face. Then I picked her up, trying to be careful of her back. She let out a little laugh and wrapped an arm around my neck while the other held the paper work and her book to her chest.

When we got to our room I set her down and let her choose what to watch. She chose some Disney movie that I loved as a kid. It made me smile. I grabbed a pen and sat down next to her on the bed. I began to read through the paper work, stopping every now and then to listen to Celeste giggling.

"What's the paper work about?" I stiffened. I didn't really want to bother her with this specific paper work. It had been being organized since she was taken.

"Don't worry about it little one." She was put through so much. She came back with scars, she's more scared than usual, and I don't think it's smart for her to be reminded. I was worried she would have a nightmare the first night. Luckily, she slept soundly but I fear that if she gets reminded even a little something would snap.

"Please tell me. I'm not some hurt puppy, don't keep me way from the world." I sighed.

"A few packs have agreed to help us with supplies to help with a possible war." She froze.

"War?" I looked down at her. Her eyes were wide with fear.

"I think that's all for now. I don't want you to worry." She shook her head.

"How? When? What's going to happen? Xavier I don't want anyone's lives to be risked because of me or for any other reason! Xavier I don't want this to happen!" I set the paper down quickly and put my hands on her cheeks. Her eyes were wide with tears gathering in the corners.

"It's going to be okay. . . I promise. Even if you weren't brought in to this, the war would happen eventually. Yes, it might have been held off for a bit but it would have happened. Yes, lives are going to be risked but I promise that everything will be okay in the end." She nodded and I leaned down and gently pressed my lips against hers. I pulled away and kissed her forehead.

"How's Lesa doing? I feel like she is one of the only ones who I haven't seen yet. I even saw Jake, Jared, and Josh. I mean, I only saw a glimpse of them when I first got back but I haven't seen Lesa yet." I nodded.

"I'll go and see if she's busy okay? She's been having trouble with mind linking since she's so late in her pregnancy. It's a normal thing but that means I actually have to go and check. Just stay here and watch the movie. Okay?" She nodded and grabbed my pillow, pulling it to her as I got up off of the bed.

As I passed by Zay's office I asked her to go help Celeste and she nodded with a small smile.

I walked out of the pack house, enjoying the nice weather. I would love to go on a run with Celeste but I'm not sure how she would feel about it. As soon as she is able to move without pain and without the numbing medicine then her and I can go on a run together.

I knocked on the door when I got to Lesa's house and entered when I heard her shout 'come in.' I frowned when I saw her sitting at her kitchen table, head between her hands.

"Sis? What's wrong?" She looked up at me with a sad smile.

"Celeste had said Christopher was there, right?" I nodded hesitantly. "Well I don't think he is any more. I don't think he's anywhere anymore. At least not alive." I stopped in my tracks.

"Why would you think that?" As much as I hated Christopher, she still loved him once.

"I felt it. I felt the bond completely snap." She got up and wrapped her arms around me. Her heavily pregnant stomach made it almost impossible for her.

"Are you. . . Are you going to be okay?" She nodded.

"I rejected him so I will be. It's just. . . I used to love him and we had so many memories." She broke out into tears.

"Are you sure you're okay?" She nodded and wiped her tears off of her cheeks.

"I think it's just the hormones. I'll be fine, really." I smiled at her. There was a knock at the door and her eyebrows scrunched together in confusion.

"I'll get it," I told her. I went to the door and when it open I swear I froze on the spot.

I think it's about damn time this happens!

I updated this because I'm getting a new cat and I'm excited! It's a girl and I need name suggestions!
