Jake's POV
I stared at Josh with a slight smile on my face. He looked happy, excited even. Everyone was excited. Lesa had gone into labor and since Celeste and Xavier have no kids, this child will be the current heir to the Paramount Pack Alpha title.
"I love little kids," he said as he leaned onto my chest. He traced my scar making pleasurable shivers go throughout my body.
"I know. When Delian was born you were basically obsessed." He scoffed and slapped my arm.
"One day," Josh hesitated for a minute. "One day do you think we could adopt?" A smile came to my face. Ever since the day he tripped over his own feet and knocked me to the ground, I knew I had feelings for him. Ever since we used to sneak away and I started to love him, I knew that he would be the one I was with in the end.
I don't regret one fucking moment of it.
I watched him from the living room. He was odd, skittish, really shy, and in my opinion. . . cute. I wasn't usually one to say guys are cute but he is. Don't take me wrong, I know I'm in to guys. I honestly don't give a shit about gender.
Last time I saw him Alpha Henry yelled for him and he ended up knocking me to the ground. The bright side was that he fell as well and I got to hold him, just for a few seconds. After that he turned red in embarrassment and pushed himself away from me, quickly running to the direction of Alpha Henry's voice.
I pushed myself off of the couch and walked over to him. It was almost noon yet he was making coffee. I chuckled and his head whipped in my direction, eyes wide in. . . fear? Why would he be scared?
"Why are you making coffee in the afternoon? From what I've seen you don't every actually drink it." He took a step back, bumping into the counter. He quickly turned around and continued making the coffee.
"It's n-not for me. It's for A-Alpha Hen-Henry," he rushed out in a whisper. That made sense I guess. That man usually slept in until nine or ten. It was ridiculous but I shouldn't complain. He is letting me stay here after all. And he is an Alpha. Father used to tell me that their job is hard so I should respect them.
He turned back around, the coffee in his hand. He tried to move around me but I just stepped in front of him.
"Well after you give it to him how about you come and hang out with me?" He jaw dropped a little so I reached forward and closed his mouth. I let my hand linger a little but quickly moved it when I saw his eyes looking at me with fear and confusion.
"I don't think Alpha Henry would like that," his voice came out kind of breathless and I smirked.
"Well then I'll just have to sneak you out tonight." He eyed me with a strange look in his eyes. It was a pleading look, as if he was begging me not to.
"Why?"
"Because I want to get to know you." Now he was looking at me as if I was crazy. I just smirked back at him.

I quietly opened Josh's bedroom door, wincing when it would squeak. The first thing I noticed were the blank walls. The whole room was bare besides a small dresser, a lamp, a clock, and a bed. Josh looked so peaceful when he was sleeping that I almost didn't want to wake him. Almost.
I went up to Josh and gently shook his shoulder. "Josh," I whispered. "Wake up." He groaned and opened his eyes.
He jumped when he saw me but calmed down almost right after. "Why are you here?"
"I told you, I want to get to know you better. Now come on." I yanked him out of the bed and out of the house. Every now and then he would almost trip over his own feet. I almost laughed but he would hush me, complaining that we shouldn't disturb Alpha Henry's sleep.
Eventually we got to the tree lining and I just pulled him to rest against the trees.
"I can't do this you know?" I stared at him and waited for him to explain. "Alpha Henry won't allow me to do this. You're just going to get me in trouble."
"Why do you need his approval? That's basically all you ever talk about. Needing his approval or how he won't approve of things." I looked to him, waiting for an answer but my eyes landed on something. A bruise. On his neck. I brought my hand up and gently touched it. He flinched and moved away from me a little. "Who did that?"
"It doesn't really matter. I should go back. I'm tired." I moved closer to him and grabbed his wrist. "Let go," he said while glancing down to his wrist.
"Why is your neck bruised?" I felt anger surge through me at the thought of someone hurting him.
He looked me straight in the eye and I was surprised at the lack of emotion. Usually every time I look into his eyes I can see every emotion. I liked that and this. . . This coldness, it shocked me. "Alpha Henry didn't approve of me talking to you." Alpha Henry? He was the one who did this?
"I'm going to kill him," I hissed.
"Let go! You're hurting me!" I looked down to where I was holding his wrist, just now noticing that I had tightened my grip.
"I'm sorry," I said letting go.
"It's okay. I'm used to the pain." This only made more anger sure through me.
"You shouldn't be. Look at me." He did so hesitantly. "From now on, I'll protect you." He gave me a tight smile and nodded.
"Jake?" I blinked and looked at Josh. "What do you think? Could we adopt one day?"
"Of course," I said with a smile. "As many as you want."
