That night, Ada sat alone in her room, starring out the window. The candle on the night table gave off a faint glow as golden eyes looked to the stars littering the night sky.
"Hi mommy. Sorry for not taking to you yesterday...But guess what!? The stories you told me are true! The ones about daddy being a hero...He saved me! I really love it here mommy...Oh! And mommy? Thank you for staying with me today, when the man had me. I know you were there. I could feel you holding my hand the whole time!" Sinbad stood outside her door and gave a sad smile. Did she really think he was a hero? He then thought about the other part. Could her mother really have been with her? He gave a gentle knock and entered the room. Her father gave her a kiss on the forehead and tucked her in before he was on his way.
Ada had fallen fast asleep. Her golden eyes stared at a see-though form of her mother.
"Mama..." Ada wailed. The woman in front of the child got on her knees and spread her arms. Ada ran to her. The bruises on her ankles throbbed but she couldn't find it in her to care at all. The woman hugged Ada tightly and whispered in her ear.
"I love you my child." She pulls away from her daughter and pushes her hair out of her face. "But now it's time for me to leave." Ada's mother starts to vanish.
"No! Mommy, I love you!" Ada cried out in her dream. And, like that, her mother was gone.
Ada woke up with tears streaming down her face. This was the second time she had lost her mother.
"Mama..." she squeaked. Her hands stuck in front of her as she watched the tears pool in her palms. She threw the blankets off of herself and ran. As fast as she could to Ja'far's room. It took a minute for the man's grey eyes to adjust to the dark, but he already knew who it was.
"Ada. Are you scared?" He asked her as he got out of bed. Ada shook her head slowly, knowing she wouldn't be able to speak properly. The tears welled up as she started to cry. Ja'far, shocked, ran to the girl. Wrapping her in his embrace, he soothingly stroked her hair.
"Mommy...is gone...again..." Ada sobbed into Ja'far's shoulder. They must have sat there, like that, for at least an hour. Ja'far soothed the crying child, before soft snores could be heard. Ada had cried herself to sleep. It broke the white-haired assassin's heart to see her, not only physically harmed, but emotionally as well. He gently picked up the princess and carried her to his bed. She wasn't going to let go of him any time soon, and he didn't want to wake her, so he lied down, with the girl violently clutching his cloths. Well, he supposed having a new sleeping buddy wouldn't be too bad. He closed his grey eyes and soon fell asleep with his arms wrapped around the young princess.
