Sinbad entered Ada's room and gently woke her. She stared at him through tired, golden eyes, waiting for him to say something.
"Do you want to go into town with me today?" he asked the girl. Her eyes lit up as she nodded, all traces of sleep gone from her features. Sinbad left the room to let the child get dressed.
After breakfast, Ada tugged on her father's hand, urging him to move faster towards the tow, to which he heartily laughed and complied.
Once there Ada took in everything. The way the sun bounced off the clay buildings intrigued her. Sinbad laughed as she stopped to look at everything they came across. She watched as people ran to and fro, stopping to say hello and bow to the two, then continuing on their way. She observed the people who stood idly by and chatted with their friends, and she dodged the other children as they ran after one another. She giggled whenever someone stopped to call her cute, and stopped to pet every stray dog she found, much to her father's objections.
Sinbad had decided to take her to the docks. The last time Ada was here, she was waiting to meet him. Well, the last time she was conscious and here. He sat down on the dock, looking out to sea while he let the girl look around. He knew she would be fine. He watched the sail boats come and go, deciding he would have to take her sailing in the future. But for now, He's decided she was a bit too young.
Sinbad heard a dog yelp, causing him to turn towards the direction the sound came from just in time to see his daughter kicking some guy in the shin. He quickly stands and runs over to them to see what's going on.
"Gah! Damn brat!" The man yelled.
"Leave him alone, meanie!" Ada yelled at the man, trying to protect the stray he had just kicked. He then picked the girl up by the back of her shirt. Ada let out a snarl, trying to squirm free. Sinbad Immediately drew his sword and pointed it at the man's neck. His golden eyes darkened as he stared the man down. He dropped Ada and raised his hands in surrender. Sinbad sheathed his sword, though the image of the king angry, would be forever etched into the man's mind.
As Ada landed, she lost her balance, falling into the water. she let out a squeak as her father's eyes widened.
"Ada!" he shouted. Her head popped out of the water before he had a chance to jump in after her. Sinbad sighed in relief. She giggled as she tried to move the hair that was plastered to her face. He reached his hand down and pulled her out of the water.
"where on earth did you learn to swim?" He asked her as they sat on the dock. The man was long gone.
"Mama taught me. We lived by the ocean, so mama always told me I had to learn to swim as quickly as possible." Ada told her father as she wrung out her hair. Sinbad nodded.
"Well, I'm glad you did." Sinbad smiled down at her. Ada smiled back, before she and her father walked back to the palace. She grabbed onto his hand and walked happily beside him.
"You shouldn't have kicked that man." The purple-haired King told the girl attached to his hand. She looked up at him innocently.
"He shouldn't have kicked the dog. The dog didn't deserve it. But that man did." Ada told him in matter-of-fact tone. Sinbad didn't know what to say. On the one hand, she was right. But on the other, he couldn't let her go around kicking people. So, he decided to just leave it be, and walk quietly back to the castle.
He scooped the girl up into his arms as they walked back, as to get home faster. Once inside the palace gates, he set her down and she ran off to dry off and look for Sharrkan. Sinbad, on the other hand, left to find Ja'far. He felt he should tell his Viceroy what had happened at the docks.
