Ada slowly woke up, already knowing Ja'far would be gone. So, she was incredibly shocked when she heard a soft snore coming from next to her. The girl started to internally panic. 'Ja'far is still asleep and the sun is up! Is he not feeling well? Should I tell daddy? IS HE GONNA DIE!?' She stared at Ja'far with tears threatening to spill.
Ja'far, sensing someone's eyes on him, stirred awake. He panicked when he noticed the girl on the verge of tears.
"Ada! What's wrong! Are you okay?" He asked frantically. But the girl had her own question in mind. She looked at him with teary, golden eyes.
"Ja'far, are you gonna die!?" She asked him, as she let the tears fall.
"Huh...!? No...Why on earth would you think that I'm going to die!?" He asked as he hugged her. Ada replied between sobs.
"Because *hiccup* the sun is *hiccup* up and...*hiccup* You weren't awake *hiccup* yet..." She sobbed into him. Ja'far was dumbfounded. Did she seriously think he was going to die because he slept in? That's preposterous! Of course...She is just a child...He patted her head.
"I'm not going to die, Ada." He smiled down at her. She looked up, her golden eyes looking into his silver ones sadly.
"Promise?" She asked.
"promise. Now, go get ready. Breakfast will be soon." He ruffled her hair. She smiled and wiped her puffy, red eyes before nodding and going back to her room.
Ja'far groaned and threw himself onto the bed. He thought about his best friend's reaction to thinking he was going to die. The man let out a slight laugh. That girl...
Ada started to leave her room. Ja'far may have said he was fine, but she was determined to keep an eye on him. Because if he was sick, she was going to make darn sure he wasn't going to die. In fact, she was going to walk him to the dining hall today!
She knocked on his door and waited patiently. The door opened to reveal Ja'far staring down at her.
"Is something wrong, Ada?" Ja'far asked with slight concern. Ada just shook her head and held her hand out to him.
"I'm going to walk to breakfast with you." She told him sternly. He took her hand in his.
"But, why?" He asked, curiosity
"To make sure you don't die!" she told him like it was obvious. Ja'far sighed. There was really no arguing with her about this. So he allowed her to 'keep an eye on him' for the day. At the beginning, he wasn't aware that this situation would make him feel so uncomfortable.
Ada had watched Ja'far all through breakfast making sure that he was eating okay. But the man stirred at her intense gaze.
"Ada...you should eat. Okay? I'll be fine." He informed her. Ada nodded, a bit skeptical and ate. Although she glanced at him often.
After breakfast, Sharrkan asked if she was ready for practice, to which she said "I can't today. I'm sorry. I need to make sure Ja'far doesn't die." Everyone in the room was shocked, concern clear on their faces. Ja'far groaned and slammed his head into the table, causing Sinbad, who was sitting next to him, to jump.
"What? Why is Ja'far going to die?" He asked, trying to keep a smug demeanor.
"Because, the sun was up...And he was still sleeping!" She told him. Everyone tried to hold in a laugh. Ja'far just let out another embarrassed groan and got up to leave. Ada ran over to him and waved goodbye to everyone. They all started laughing once the two were gone.
The whole day, Ada was driving Ja'far insane, constantly asking him if he's sure he feels up to things, and watching everything he did. But by sundown he had convinced Ada that he was alright, and she happily went to bed, dreaming about the day she would have tomorrow. Ja'far was relived she didn't sleep in his bed that night. He would never sleep in again.
