I only dream beautiful things about you
But there has to come a point
Of letting you go
Letting our firework
Fade and drift off in the wind
And our hugs
Becoming just a happy memory
And your quick smile
Something I see
Every seven months
Where you say a quick hello
And walk away
Because you have people to see
And places to be
And I watch you go
Weaving through the crowd
Picking up another small conversation
And I realize
This is life
The kind that the movies skip over
And that books mask
The kind of life where
The one person you love
Actually walks away
And you move on
Painfully at first
But then easier with time
Until I don't think about you
Every day
And my heart doesn't strain
When I do
This is what a bitter sweet goodbye feels like
You letting the person you love go
And eventually being okay with it
Because fireworks come once
Every year
Just like usGoodbye love
