Heartstrings stretched across five hundred and eighty miles
Rolling hills turn to skyscrapers
Stars into smog
Yet we hang on
Hope lasting longer
Than the 8 hours we are separated by
Experience night turning to morning
Talking in whispers
Curled up
Almost forgetting the distance
"I'll never forget the first time I saw your face"
Memories of far away places
Underneath the Eiffel Tower
Like a movie
Polos and sea green eyes
Little laughs
Screens that almost make it feel real
Inside jokes
Old pictures
And differences
make us alike
We like orange juice with pulp
You make my heart smile
When your name flashes across my screen
Butterflies flutter and I feel young
Your little smiles and infectious laugh
The way you talk about your day
I could listen to it like a record
We created a new melody
Your old favorites with my new ones
You made me heart feel when I thought it would never feel again
You never stopped me from quoting my favorite literature
You appreciated my love of hamlet and fault in our stars
You let me ramble while you watched smiling
And you caught me staring when you told stories
You said you liked cloudy days
Because that's the color of my eyes
Every time you talk about something
Makes me want to love that thing
As much as you do
I noticed when I turned into we
In our conversations
We joke about bus rides and plane tickets
When 580 miles seems bigger than the world
We are just two kids
Trying to wrap our minds around distance
And not letting it winYou are special and kind
You get me
Thank you
