Desperation

The way you grabbed at my hand
While I was driving
Both hands on the wheel
Willing us home safely
Because you knew how much I hate driving
I can't get it out of my head
The darkness engulfing me
Like a hug I never got from you
I kept both hands on the wheel
The whole way home
I regret not holding your hand
One last time
It runs itself over in my mind
WHY DIDNT WE WORK OUT
The memories are killing me
Desperation
I wake up in cold sweats breathing hard
Staring at the wall in the pitch black
Wondering and rerunning
Our too perfect moments
Trying to read between
The beautifully written lines
What I did wrong
