It only took nine hours for me to record Boyz-n-the-Hood. I was skeptical at first because everyone knows that I never wanted to be a rapper. Dre is always convincing me to do shit. I love my voice, its very unique. You dont hear too many high pitched voice rappers. I am now a member of N.W.A. and my rap name is Eazy-E. I spell it with a Z because I just think that it look and sound better than Easy-E.
N.W.A. and the Posse is about to be released and I'm excited. We've worked hard on this album, this is our first studio album and I can't wait to see our hardwork pay off. Boyz-n-the-Hood is now the most requested song on the radio.
I got fans now. Man that's incredible. It's so hard to believe that I went from dopeman Casual to Eazy-E. I just started this music shit and I'm already gaining fans. Sometimes I wonder what they see in me, and what they love so much about me. I've always wanted a way out of this thug shit, I guess music was the pathway.
Later that day, I ran into an older white guy with bleach blonde hair.
He approached me and said "hey how are you? I heard your record. I'm Jerry Heller."
"Nice to meet you, Eric Wright."
"It's very nice to meet you Eric. Listen, do you have a second to talk Eric?" he asked.
"Talk about what?"
"About music," he said with a grin.
We sat down in his office, well it looked more like a shithole. There was paper and boxes everywhere. It looked more like an abandoned small ass factory if you ask me. His trashy office was already a bad first impression. I was not interested in what he had to say because of it.
"So I like your voice. It's good. Your voice is incredible, unique. It's something I never heard. I think I can do something for you."
"Well actually it seems that I can do something for you," I said sarcastically.
He laughed and said "I see where this is going, you think because I dont have a big flashy office that I dont know what I'm talking about?"
"I never said that," I replied.
"Well let me tell you a little bit about myself Eric. I've worked with a lot of great acts: Elton Jon, War, Styx.."
I interrupted him and asked, "okay but have you worked with anyone from this decade?"
"Listen Eric, you have a lot of raw talent, you're unique. When I say that you have a voice out of this world, please believe me. That is your blessing so dont fuck around. I heard about your label and your upcoming album. Congrats. I'm offering you my services."
"So what exactly are you trying to say Jerry?"
"I'm asking to be your manager Eric. But you're going to have to trust me. I can take you and your record label to the top. And we can make something big, just the two of us. So what do you say?"
I had to think about this. I dont even know this guy and he wants to be my manager? But he does know a lot about music, I dont. I can give it a shot, I mean what's the worst that can happen?
"Sure," I said while shaking his hand. "It's a deal Jerry."
"So do you have any more music for me?"
I got up and said "absolutely."
"Cool. So tell me Eric, what does N.W.A. stand for anyway? No whites allowed or something like that?" he laughed.
"Nah. Niggaz with attitudes."
"Alright I like that," he said while grinning. "I like that."
