I followed him backstage and we entered a room with a lot of mirrors and seats and lights. I loved it! It was just as in the movies. Michael took a seat and a gorgeous girl came behind him. She started to play in his hair and ask him what he wanted today. I was surprise by the ‘today’! How often was he going there?
- Ask her. Said Michael pointing at me.
- What? I have to choose?
- Yeah, that’s the reason you came, isn’t it? He said in a flirty tone
I loved how Michael was acting. He was so cool and careless. I liked it.
- Yeah, it is! You should have them Brown, with a piece of hair dyed in dark purple in the front.
- It’s a go! Said Michael to the hairdresser. He then turned to me and smiled.
His smile was perfect. When he talked, I felt like I had a flirty bad boy in front of me but when he smiled, his eyes would light up and make him look like a perfect angel.
- So, Mary, can I know a little bit more about you? He said, looking at me through the mirror.
- Uh, yeah! Ask and I’ll spread my secrets. I said, crossing my legs.
- Alright, I ask, you answer and then you ask and I answer.
- Alright! I said, enthusiast.
I really liked these kind of games, as long as it didn’t go too far. But it felt right with Michael so I decided to give it a shot.
- Okay, easy one to start. Where are you from? He said.
- I’m from Quebec City, how about you?
- I’m from Australia. How old are you?
- I’m 17, I’ll be 18 in a month. You?
- I’m 17, too. Are you still a virgin?
- No. I lied.
Why did I lie? I don’t know… I didn’t want him to think I was a goody-goody. I’ve had one boyfriend and still, it wasn’t really serious. It’s not that I was ugly or things like that. It’s just that I’ve never taken any time to think about having a boyfriend. I had much better fun hanging out with friends like Callie and our friend, Gabriella, than letting other boys mess with my heart.
- Me neither. He said, giving me a wink. Your turn!
- Are you single?
- Yes I am. Single and ready to mingle. He said, doing the famous hip-thrust by One Direction. Are you?
- I am! How long have lasted your last relationship?
- 2 years.
Wow… 2 years! That’s a lot! My ex and I have lasted a couple of months but not more than 6. I just can’t picture myself with the same boy for that long. Or else, I can’t picture a guy with me for that long. I’ve always find myself cute and all but not attractive enough to have a boyfriend. People around me say I’m dumb to think that way but I don’t give a damn. Callie has always said to me that I was beautiful, with my long blonde hair and my light brown eyes. She said she’s always wanted to look like me and I told her I wanted to look like her… fuck logic. I came back to reality as Michael jumped off of his chair and went to the huge mirror behind. I followed him as he asked another question.
- What’s your type of guy? He said.
- I like guys with skinny jeans and band t-shirts or singlets. I said. I liked the hipster type. I like guys who are daring and unpredictable but sweet and caring.
Callie actually introduced me to that type of guy. She’s always liked guys like this. She’s been dating 3 guys lately and they were all sort of hipsters. The last one was trouble. Since him, she hasn’t dated any guy.
- How about you? What’s your type of girl? I said, looking at him straight in the eyes.
- I like blonde girls with brown eyes. He said, getting closer. I like girls who wear blue and white stripped shorts. I like girls who dance on our songs and I like girls who like boys with brown and purple hair. He said.
His face was inches from mine. We were staring in each other’s eyes as he broke the silence.
- My turn.
This was getting hot. None of us would break the intense eye contact but he was still asking me questions. I could feel his breath on my face. His sweet breath smelt like watermelon, since he had a gum, obviously.
- Hey we’re taking on the world
I’ll take you where you wanna go
Pick you up if you fall to pieces
Let me be the one to save you
Break the plans we had before
Let’s be unpredictable
Pick you up if you fall to pieces
Let me be the one to save you. He sang the lyrics of a song.
- Doesn’t sound like a question…I said, teasing him.
- Kiss me.
- Still not a question.
- Shut up- he said as he crashed his lips on mine.
My head snapped back as he kissed me. I backed off as he leaned toward so I could lean on the wall behind. His hands went from my face to my shoulders to my waist. He stopped them on my waist and pulled me toward him. He then put his arms around me and stopped kissing me. He hugged me thigh, one hand at the bottom of my back and other on the back of my head, remaining my head on his chest. I could hear his heart beat fast. He then pulled my hand and drove me to the stage. He kissed me on the forehead as he directed me to the stairs.
- Go meet up with the other girls in the audience. I’ll see you soon.
- Okay, be good. I said, giving him a wink.
