On Monday I struggled to find a way to get the orbs to school. Can I just grab them or is that only when the others are near? I grabbed four chains and out them in my pocket, then I reached slowly for Kamer's orb first. I held my breath as I felt the cool surface, and let out a sigh, no shock. I did the same for the others and soon had all of the orbs safely in another bag.
I got in the car with Olivia and we drive to school, when I told her that I would be staying after school. I arrived and immediately went to my locker and put in my backpack, then carefully put the orbs in next.
"Hey, you brought the orbs, Quinn is freaking out over if you would bring them or not," I turned to see Kamer standing next to me.
"Oh! Yeah I did bring them," I replied as we walked off to the class with Kamer.
<time skip to after school brought to you by my laziness>
We got premission from the science teacher to use the lab. He gladly accepted, due to someone finally wanting to do something in there for fun, and not to finish homework assignments due the next day.
We walked to the room.
"Hey, so I brang the orbs, they are glass with a cool different things around them, will that work?" Everly asked Quinn.
"That just makes it better!" Quinn sat on a stool in the lab, we all sat in front of her.
"Ok, let's see the different holder and the orbs," Quinn clapped her hands and looked at Everly, who pulled out four holders. One had a leafy pattern, and I knew Ever would claim that one. Another One was cube turned on its side to make it into a diamond. One that flowed around vertically with a orb wrapped in it. The last was in the form of a tear drop with one on the bottom of it in the middle, which caught my eye the most.
We all looked at each other then Quinn smiled and we all knew what was next.
"DIBS!" We all grabbed the one we wanted. Ever with the one with the leafy pattern, Quinn with the diamond one, Kamer with the one that flows vertically, and me with the one that looked like a tear drop.
"Ok, let's get to work!" Kamer said.
We all handed ours to Quinn, who inspected the, all and found a way to open them.
She pulled out a needle from her pocket. She took her holder and somehow found a way to open the small orb in it, don't expect me to know, one second it was closed and the next it was open. She poked her orb with the needle, opening a little hole, just big enough for some to get out. She held it to the small orb. When the smaller orb was almost fully white, she closed it with a snap!
She then took duct tape and closed the orb. There was about three peices when she finished.
"So professional, duct tape," Ever sarcastically said.
"Shut up," is all Quinn said, then she set down the orb and repeated the process with the others.
Soon, we were all staring in awe at the orbs that Quinn had completed on our necks.
"Wait," I interrupted our admiring, "how do we know if they work, like what if I need Quinn's power and I can't use it?"
"Let's test!" Kamer said.
"In the lab?" Everly asked.
"Yeah, that's a bad idea," I thought out loud.
"Let's go outside then," Quinn suggested, fiddling with her white orb necklace.
We were all outside when she switched necklaces. I had Everly's, Quinn had Kamer's, Everly had Quinn's, and Kamer had mine.
We all did the motions we did yesterday in the room where I found the orbs. It worked, fortunately.
"Thank goodness it worked! Otherwise Quinn's hard work would have been for nothing, except cool necklaces," Kamer commented with a small blue and red, with some purple, floating above her finger.
"Yeah," I replied.
"And I thought you were useless," Everly joked to Quinn.
"Surprising right?" Quinn laughed, holding a white and blue sphere on her palm, rotating it around her hand.
Kamer gave me a ride home, since Olivia couldn't pick me up, for she had to help her family with something at the time.
I went inside and went to my room, where I put the big orbs back into the chest, which I hid in my closet. I did homework and ate dinner alone, because I didn't know where my parents were, the staff said they had some things to do.
It was getting dark so I brushed my teeth and got ready for bed. When I finished, I got in bed and fell asleep to the nice, red glow of the necklace.
