Chapter Seven - MAKE IT RAIN

"So I don't care what they say
'Cause I have seen when we run we make it rain
There's nothing better than this
I'll keep wanting you for just one more kiss
So make it rain"

Make it rain - Colbie Caillat

"So, what do you think?" Thomas asked Sophie referring to the tacos they were eating in silence for the past 5 minutes. He had arranged a table for two in his balcony and they were sitting facing one another. Blake couldn't complaint about the view. And he wasn't talking about the city. For him the best view right now was the amazing woman carelessly eating tacos in front of him.

"You weren't kidding. These are amazing!!" Sophie answered too satisfied to be ashamed that she was devouring the food in front of her. Blake had a funny look on his face, watching her movements as if he found them amusing. "You have to tell me where you ordered them from."

"That's a secret I'll have to keep. So whenever you want tacos you'll have to ask for me." Blake half joked. If Sophie insisted of course he would say that his ex sister in law owned a Mexican restaurant Downton and she  was kind enough to deliver the food there. But if she didn't, he would keep his promise to provide her tacos when she wanted them.

"You are so full of games, Blake Thomas." Sophie pretended to roll her eyes and continued eating. "When I call you at 3 in the morning asking for tacos you'll regret this decision."

Blake laughed seeing how Sophie's mind tended to be malicious in the most innocent (if that was possible) and cute way imaginable.

"So, you didn't tell me what you thought of the game today." He changed subjects fishing for a compliment or even a thank you from Sophie.

"Why don't you just brag about your goal already? We all know that's what you want." She could see right through him and they both ended up laughing about it.

Blake shrugged. "I'm pretty awesome at what I do, what can I say?"

"But really, I wasn't expecting you to dedicate it to me." Sophie made a more serious face and Thomas took a deep breath. "That was really nice."

"I'm glad you liked it." He smiled back at her who was now complety full and satisfied. "Having you there actually motivated me to play harder, so I should be the one to thank you." Thomas admitted and Sophie smiled from the corner of her mouth.

"Everything to impress a girl, right?" She asked although she hoped he would say the right thing. For the first time Sophie wondered if Blake did this to all of the girls he met. If she was just someone else.

They barely were friends, after all. She wasn't even sure if she could call this a date.

"It's not easy to impress someone like you, Klein." He stated answering to her question but not actually giving her the answer she wanted.

"Someone like me?" Sophie asked, crossing her hands together over the table.

"Yes... Confident, smart, beautiful and with this unique personality that never cease to amaze me." Blake said in the most natural way possible.

He thought she was all of that and Sophie didn't know what to say back and there was a moment of silence. So she did what she knew best. Avoided confrontations.

"Being a legend in the same team for your whole carreer or playing in the best teams in Europe?" Sophie asked, getting back to her own little game.

"This is a tricky question." Blake seemed to think about it for a while. "I've always been a fan of the Red Bulls and I owe them my whole succees in the sport." He told her as he continued thinking about it. "At the same time, every player wants to play in Europe, in the best leagues and with the best players, so I'm no different... Although I never got any offer from Europe so I have no idea if I would accept it."

"You never thought about moving?" Sophie was curious. From the little she knew about soccer, most players did everything to go to Europe. "Don't you have any favorite team out there you'd want to play in?" She asked honestly wanting to know more about him as they drank the rest of their bottles of beer.

"I do, actually... I'm a great fan of Arsenal, from England. But they hiring me would be too big of a dream for me." Thomas shrugged and got up from his chair getting the empty plates and bottles. "More beer?" He asked as the wind blew.

"Sure. But it's getting cold here, I think I'll have to leave the paradise balcony." She complained and got up with him, helping him bring the dishes to the kitchen.

In the way back to the living room, where they sat down on the couch with full bottles of beer in hands, Sophie noticed something. "You're such a guy!"

"Of course I am." He laughed at the comment. "But why?"

"The only accessorie you have in your living room is a Xbox." She pointed to the device carefully put on the centre table.

"Good point. I like playing sometimes." He answered her and relaxed his head on the comfortable sofa.

"You're tired, aren't you?" Sophie asked clearly noticing how Thomas' eyes were getting smaller and more closed.

"A little bit." He admitted looking at her own eyes.

"I should let you rest and go home." Sophie prepared to get up when Blake took her hand in his.

"No, stay. I don't want to end this day yet." He told her adjusting himself on the sofa, beside her.

How could she say no to him when she looked at him with those adorable blue eyes of his that could melt her insides in a second.

"What do you say about watching a movie?" He asked seeming more awake now.

"That seems nice. What do you have?" Sophie got comfortable on her side of the couch.

"The whole Netflix for you to choose." Thomas said grabbing the remote control and putting Netflix on the screen.

After at least 20 minutes of scrolling  over trying to find a movie neither of them have watched, they settled for one they both have watched and liked: Million Dollar Baby.

They had just hit play when the rain started falling outside. "Enjoying the whole Netflix and chill vibe." Sophie said at last before they were both absorbed in the movie, slowly getting closer and closer to each other until their arms were touching and eventually Sophie had rested her head on his shoulder.
