Chapter Eleven - Only Girl
"Want you
To make me feel
Like I'm the
Only girl in world"Rihanna
So it turned out the reason Blake wanted to see her so fast after the date was because he would spend the next 4 days away from New York due to work. And he didn't want to wait until the following weekend before seeing Sophia again.
But the encounter they had was too fast and they were both too hungry to properly enjoy each other's company. And at the end of the night, when Blake kissed Sophie goodnight in front of her apartment, she hoped this week would quickly pass by.
As Sophie sat on her couch drinking a bottle of beer and watching whatever was on TV, she contemplated what was happening in her love life.
If she counted the days, it seemed she had barely met Blake Thomas. But at the same time, if she thought about their conversations and experiences, and just how natural she felt with him, it seemed like they've know each other forever.
And this was beginning to scare the shit out of her.
They had to move slower from now on. And that was what she was going to do.
So because of that, she didn't text nor call him the next day, or the other after it, even though she was dying to tell him that she was going out to a sports bar to wacth him play on the TV.
So at the night of his game in Orlando, Sophie and Brie went to the Irish Pub on 7th avenue to watch the Red Bulls.
"Did you tell him you were going to watch him play?" Brie asked Sophie as they drank beer on the counter of the bar, waiting for the game to start.
"No... I don't want to look like I'm fangirling over him." She admitted to her friend.
"Oh come, Soph. You guys are dating. What's the problem of you cheering for him?" Brie complained with her and Sophie knew she was right, in part.
"Fine. What if I send him a 'good luck' text?" She asked.
"Do you think he would see it? I mean... It's 20 minutes before the game now." One more time Brie was right. But Sophie decided to try anyway.
Sophie 8:40pm:
Good luck tonight! Cheering for your team xx"There. I sent it." Sophie shrugged, trying to not make a big deal out of it.
It didn't take 2 minutes before her cell phone beeped.
Blake Thomas 8:41pm:
Thanks, Soph. Just finished warming up and ready to go in. If I score, wait for a celebration for you 😉"What did he say???" Brie looked curious, especially seeing the smile on Sophia's face.
"He thanked me, that's all." She hid her phone and a little part of information from the text. And then they chatted about the tour and drank beer waiting for the game to begin.
When it did, Sophie found herself focused on it. Every pass, every foul. And she couldn't help but jump a little on her seat whenever Blake had the ball running to the goal.
It was 34 minutes in the first half when he finally made it.
Blake Thomas scored a goal for his team, and both Sophia and Brie celebrated alongside many fans in the bar.
Sophie didn't forget about the text and quickly took her attention back to the TV. There he was. Blake stared at the camera and then he did something unexpected. He kissed the lens of the camera.
He was sending her a kiss.
"He so dedicated this goal to you." Brie pointed out and Sophie tried to hide her blush.
What else could be hotter than a professional athlete sending you a kiss on national television after scoring a goal?
He made her feel like the only girl in the world for him. And that made her heart race, at the same time it scared her more and more.
