"And I'm staring at you now
There's no one else around
I'm thinking you're the girl I need
I'm just saying it's fine by me
If you never leave
And we can live like this forever
It's fine by me"Fine by me - Andy Grammer
Everyone got up to watch as the bride graciously made her way towards the altar, where the groom waited for her with enchantment in his eyes. For a minute Sophie forgot all about her sister's attitude towards her. All she could think about was how beautiful and happy Melody looked in the white wedding dress.
Sophia was standing with the other bridesmaids near the altar, but still she could feel Blake's gaze on her during the ceremony. She wondered if it was ever possible that someday it would be the two of them standing at the altar.
"May I now pronounce you husband and wife." The priest proclaimed and everyone clapped their hands to the new couple.
The orchestry played a mellow romantic song as the couple walked out followed by the guests.
"Let's hit the party now! I can sure use a glass of champagne." Sophie told Blake who laughed and agreed.
She was having trouble concentrating today while near him. The second time she met him, at the awards show, he was wearing a tuxedo and looking handsome. But today it was different. There was just something about Blake that made her drawn to him. He was breathtaking. And more in shape than ever if possible.
"What are you thinking?" Blake asked as they walked in the ballroom where the party would happen.
"I'm thinking how hot you look in this tux." Sophia admitted stealing a big laugh from her boyfriend.
"That's why I love you. You're the biggest ego booster I've ever known." Blake joked about it and pulled Sophie near him, locking her on his arms.
"I knew it! You only use me to make you feel better." She faked a shocked expression.
They continued joking around not realizing they were just standing in the middle of the ballroom until Sophie's mother appeared.
"You should go congratulate your sister, Sophia. And take pictures with her. Blake will survive without you for five minutes." Eden stated and Sophie knew there was no arguing with her. So after placing a kiss on Blake's cheek she did as her mother told and walked to where Melody and Philip were standing.
"Is my daughter paying you to be here?" Blake was calmly sipping on his drink when he heard what Sophie's mother asked and almost choked. He didn't know if he was shocked or amused.
"Your daughter is the most amazing woman I've ever met. She could only lose to my mother. So, forgive me the indiscretion, but you underestimate Sophie." Eden raised her brows, surprised with what she was hearing. "And to answer your question, no, she's not paying me. Although sometimes I do think I'm getting the best out of our relationship." Blake finished his rant with a smile, leaving Eden speechless.
"I'm back, and tired of fake smiling for the cameras." Sophia returned, not realizing what was happening then.
"You wanna dance?" Blake asked, relieved that Sophia showed up when she did and dying to get away from the situation he was put in.
"Sure." Sophie agreed and they left for the dance floor, while Eden stood right where she was, still dwelling with what her daughter's boyfriend just told her.
Maybe he was right.
She looked at Sophia, happily dancing with him. She glowed. And was definitely the most beautiful woman in the room besides Melody.
In spite of not being so present while her daughter was growing up, she could see Sophie had become an amazing, successful and brave woman. And the simple fact that she was happy, made her proud.
Eden waited until the song came to and end and the couple left the dance floor so she could go talk to Sophie again.
"Dear, if I haven't said it earlier, you look incredibly beautiful today." Sophie was surprised to hear the compliment from her mother, who unexpectedly hugged her right then. "I love you so much." Eden whispered in her ear, making her eyes water. She didn't know how long it's been since she last heard her mother say those words.
"I love you too mom." Sophie whispered back.
"Now I'll let you two enjoy the party." After that she vanished and Sophie didn't see her anymore.
"That was unexpected." Sophie commented to Blake, who smiled knowingly.
"What do you say we do something crazy?" Blake had the idea.
"We're at my sister's wedding ball. There's not much craziness to do.
"We're also very close to the sea." He stated and pointed to the glass doors that opened to the private beach. "What do you say?"
It didn't take more than five seconds for Sophie to decide. "Let's do it."
---
Sophie was losing her breath from so much laughter. "I can't believe I didn't record that!"
Blake was soaking wet after getting caught by a wave while standing with his back to the ocean.
"Laugh all you want!" He held his own laughter.
"I did warn you not to go in this deep." She told him before going back to laughing at him. They were wetting their feet only when Blake decided to go in a little more. Sophie didn't want to follow him or else she would ruin her dress and told him to be careful. That's when a wave caught him by surprise. Sophia was able to run back to the dry sand, but Blake... didn't.
"You know... it's not fair I'm the only one who's gotten wet." Blake stated, grinning at Sophie who soon discovered his intentions.
He started running in her direction and she tried to escape but he was much faster and soon she felt his arms wrapping around her waist.
"Ohhhh you're so gonna pay for this." Sophie shouted.
"Am I?" Blake turned her around so she was looking at him.
For a moment the time stopped. There was just the two of them. No noises around, not even the waves crashing. Nothing else mattered. Nothing else existed.
They stood there on the beach looking at each other's eyes and feeling each other's heartbeat as the breeze hit them lightly.
"My dress will be ruined. I hate you!" Sophie said and didn't mean a word.
"I hate you too." Blake smiled, knowing the different meaning of the word in this moment and kissed her, before he lost his mind over her.
