I woke up on Sunday morning in a great mood, it was finally my nephew, Megaa's birthday.

Morgan, my older sister, and I decided to host a party in commemoration of his third birthday.

Deidra hadn't spoken to me since Friday night a.k.a Disastrous Dinner night. No calls, no messages, nothing. This was quite unlike her and as our cousin she was a part of the unofficial planning committee.

The party was scheduled to start at 2:30pm and at 12 we were all to meet to finish the decorating.
I decided to give her until 12:30 before I'd go get the decorations she was supposed to take because nothing would spoil Megaa's birthday especially her petty ass behaviour.

Maybe I was being insensitive but Dee knew that Syd was easily annoyed at persons judging her decisions. While I wouldn't care for anyone referring to me as loose because I really wasn't, Syd definitely was. Though she wasn't shy of her 'alternative lifestyle' to outsiders, she expected her best friends to at least understand why she made certain decisions. Deidra was, unfortunately in this situation, the poster girl for sacred and pure relationships. Most days I'd be fine with it but last Friday was the umpteenth in a series of her lectures and they were getting real annoying, real quick. Life made us the way we were, we were fine with it and she really needed to let sleeping dogs lie.

"Aunti Lila!"

"Hey Meggz!"
I turned around to the most adorable child ever, he looked straight out of a kids magazine in his little Tims, black jeans and plaid long sleeved shirt. His hair was perfection, all in all he was the perfect child. I just knew he'd be a little heartbreaker soon.

As he engulfed me in a hug I felt a surge of conflicting emotions.
I was happy, elated that my one and only nephew was growing up so quickly but I also felt want, when, if ever would I be able to hear my own child call me "mommy." Or was I just destined to be an aunt all my life? I also felt hurt, this should be me, my child's birthday. However nothing could overpower the happiness I was feeling for Megaa.

I chuckled as Megaa ran from my hands to play with a butterfly that was flying nearby.
I looked over at his father, Mari, and Megan I couldn't help but to be happy for them. High school best friends, college sweethearts, now successful business people and doting parents.
Life works in mysterious ways.

"Are you having baby fever again."

I jumped at Mari's voice and laughed as I replied.

"Boy please, as busy as I am do I look like I need to be thinking about having a child."

"Keep lieing to yourself, one day maybe you'll believe it."

"Leave my sister alone, she has a nephew and a soon to be niece she can spoil until she's ready to have children of her own," Megan said joining the conversation.

"You aren't," I turned wide eyed.

"Yep, I am. Seven weeks."

I screamed and jumped up and down like a child.

"I'm so happy for you two, Megaa's been wanting a brother forever."

Megan laughed. "I personally think its a girl."

"And I just want a healthy child, whether girl or boy," Mari added.

"I'm just excited ima be an Aunti again."

I didn't miss the look Megan gave Mari before he nodded and walked off.

"Are you sure? I mean me and Mari don't want to be selfish or throw my pregnancies in your face. I know you've been through a lot."

"Meg, you couldn't be selfish if you tried. I'm seriously happy to be an aunt again. I promise. Now today is hardly the time or place to bring up sad stories of the past so let's celebrate my nephew's birthday while you can bend please."

"Fine but you know this isn't necessarily over. Where the hell Deidra at by the way?"

I was about to reply when I heard,
"Never fear, DoubleDee's hear."

I couldn't help but laugh, "bish please you know you don't have anything close to Double D's."

She handed the bags to Megan and for a second I thought she was still upset until she stuck her tongue out at me and hugged me.

"I'm sorry for walking out on Friday. I just want you to be happy and-"

"Apology accepted. I don't know why you walked out. You know your itty bitty ass can't stay mad at anyone for too long. How many times did you dial my number?"

"Like once every five minutes. I didn't get any work done! Especially this morning I know its a hard day for you sometimes."

"I love you Dee, don't worry about me so much. But right now we need to worry about the rest of the decorations before these kids get here."

Let me tell you a party with 20 toddlers, no matter how many adults are present will teach you one thing, patience!

At 6pm all the children were gone and even Megaa who had vowed to "stay up all night playing with my new toys" was knocked out cold. Mari had gone to put him to bed but we suspected that he had also been put to bed in the process.

All we girls could do was put our feet up and pretend to watch whatever was on TV until our wine and fruit juice glasses were empty and we were drifting to la la land.

A/N Why is everyone so worried about Lila?

Did I thank you all for reading? No? Well Thanks Much to all of you. Continue reading & leave comments &/or messages, I don't bite.
