Ch.19 Cal the liar

As the three walked through the cafeteria out to the school hallways, Ian brought something up.
"Sorry guys...I have a-uh-thing to go to so...like...I'll see ya later" Ian said as he began leaving the two alone.

He left the two alone, obviously doing it on purpose but he just gave Nick thumbs up and left them. Nicholas sighed heavily annoyed by his cousin,
"Sorry about him." Nick apologized to nelly and she just smiled.

"No worries-" she was saying when her eyes laid upon a couple who were cozy by a corner. The two making out. He kissed her lips and pulled away, giving her a charming smile, as his hands traced down to her waist. Pulling her closer to him, she wrapped her arms around his neck and giggled, they looked like they were so in love to the point it was kinda sickening. Nelly watched the couple only to realize it was Cal and that cheerleader Annabelle...

"Nelly?" Nick asked as he started looking the way she was too. That's when he noticed, her feelings were chaotic. It was full of betrayal, disappointment and sadness with a mix of anger. Nelly felt her eyes tear up a bit, and she bit her lip hard. Fighting the urge to cry, not of sadness but of anger. Cal was suppose to be her best friend, he was suppose to tell her who he dated and what he did....as they were best friends. But, nelly realized, that Cal definitely wasn't her Cal that She always knew.
"Nelly? Could you calm down? Your feelings are overflowing and-are you going to cry? I told you, you can't trust Cal" Nick reminded her and nelly bit her lip harder.

"I know..." She mumbled as she finally had calmed down her feelings, to the point she wouldn't cry of anger.

"Let's go somewhere else, I hate seeing you sad" Nick said as he placed an arm around her and hugged her, walking her off to an isolated hallway.

There nelly sat down on the ground, leaning against the lockers. She sighed heavily,
"You were so right. He isn't the Cal I know...cal wouldn't lie to me, I mean-I didn't know he liked Annabelle...how long have they been going out?" Nelly asked.

"Like...2weeks? But they're not dating...they're...uh...friends with benefits" Nick informed her as he sat by her side. Nelly nodded in understandment and closed her eyes. Thinking to herself, why would Cal even confess his feelings to her when he obviously had someone.

"I shouldn't tell you this but....I can hear your thoughts" Nick told her and nelly opened her eyes in shock.

"I forgot! Fuck. I'm sorry-it's just been a stressful day." Nelly excused herself.

"Wanna skip the last couple periods?" Nick offered

"What? No! I can't skip-"

"Just for today, we'll go eat out and I'll take you out on a date or something. As friends...of course" Nick offered her, and nelly sighed. She did want to leave school as soon as possible.

"......no. You have practice after school and then those lessons, you're pretty busy today.maybe some other time" nelly replied, as she hated her response. She did want to get out of school and be with him out of all people.

"Aww. Cmon, it'll be fun"

"No. Nicholas, you have a tight schedule and I won't interfere with you on that" nelly told him with a stern voice, trying to be serious and mean it. Nick laughed.

"I'll skip by my self then"

"No! Don't! Don't be a bad guy! The football team depends on their captain, as well as your lessons after the practice and that important dinner. Then there's the game coming up soon" nelly reminded him as she had clearly been studying his schedule.

"You're no fun. Cmon, I won't skip if you offer me something I won't ever get anywhere else" Nick said in a joking tone, teasing her and challenging her at the same time.

"Promise?" Nelly asked, getting an idea.

"I promise." Nicholas told her with a cheesy smile as his eyes seemed to brighten up every time he looked at her.

"Okay. Deal" nelly told him as she leaned over towards him, placing a kiss on his cheek. "You will never get that anywhere else, atleast not from someone who looked like me" nelly told him, as she was slightly blushing in embarrassment. Nick was surprised at first but chuckled.

"I guess...i will keep my promise. But I wished you and I could have another day like the one we had before it started raining. Remember" Nick asked with a laugh.

"Yeah. That won't happen, first kiss thief"

"Want me to steal another one?" Nick taunted her and nelly blushed, pushing herself away farther away from him.

"Nope! I'm alright! "

"One day I won't listen to your comments and I'll steal another kiss, trust me" Nicholas warned her with a smile, as nelly began to stand up from the ground.

"Shut up, that won't happen. Besides, it's not like you and I will fall in love." Nelly commented, which made Nicholas remember try first time they met. The fact he had told her, that he wanted to take Chloe to the Prom rather than be stuck with her.

"And if we fell in love?" Nick asked, as he also stood up.

"....that wouldn't happen. I mean you wanted to take Chloe to prom, and I with cal. So...after the spell is over...we won't ever feel the same for eachother." Nelly told him as the two began walking back to the crowded hallways of the school. Nick nodded at her words, but something inside of him told him that wouldn't happen because he actually liked nerdy nelly

"And...what If when the spell is over, you and I...still like eachother?" Nicholas asked

"God! I don't know! Why are you asking so many questions? If we still like eachother after the spell is broken...then...I don't know. We'll ask Cupid some day" nelly told him as the two began to blend in with the people in the hallway.

"I'll see you after school" Nicholas told her as he began to blend in with the people in the hallways and walked away from nelly. Nelly felt an emptiness in her heart. She wanted to know what would happen...when the spell was broken, and when would the spell break?

Nelly walked towards her class when Cupid/Jackson was at her side.
"You called?" He asked her

"I called you? When?" Nelly asked

"Yeah you did with the whole mind heart thing-never mind. I see you don't know, anyways! You have questions! What is it? I was flirting happily with some cute girls" Jackson told her in an annoyed tone

"Yeah it's about the spell" nelly told him, she hesitated as she spoke. "When will it break?....and what will happen to Nicholas and I when the spell is over, like our feelings for eachother" nelly asked

".....that's a hard one...but....it will break soon. When the climax of your feelings are at the top, when the two will admit you like eachother, when you two are willing to defend and fight for one another despite its obstacles. That's when the spell will break, but the after wards feelings...damn, that's a hard one. Even I don't know, but usually...it's up to the two." Jackson told her as he was looking into the nothing, almost as if he were remembering something.

"What the hell does the whole climax of love prophecy thing mean?!" Nelly asked in desperation

"I just gave you the answer. Don't expect me to answer your questions all the time, young missy"

"Ugh. You're so annoying"

"And you're cute" Jackson replied to her with a smirk, getting his bad boy facade back.

"Jerk"

"Cute dork"

"Go away"

"Come this way"

"Don't rhyme with my insults" nelly told him, frustrated. Jackson winked at her.

"I was just saying, anyways. I'll see you Saturday right? You will be nicks date?" Jackson asked

"Yes. Why?" Nelly replied

"Oh! Good! I should warn you, Lindsy will be there" Jackson said as a crowd of people passed infront of nelly and when she looked around for Cupid, he was gone...
