After Cupid had driven her home, cal came over. Asking for her, until she finally got annoyed by her mothers questions that she went to cals house. Unfortunately he was her neighbor...
She knocked on the door and cals mother opened.
"Oh! Nelly! You hadn't been over in a week! I was getting worried, oh! Cal's upstairs playing video games, probably, come on in" his mother said sweetly as she let nelly in.Once nelly was up to his room, she knocked lightly and he opened the door. His eyes slightly widening in surprise to see her.
"Nelly...hey...come in" he said as he opened the door and let her into his room. She knew his room very well, the walls were painted a light blue, he hadn't changed the color from when he was a kid. The bed was at the far left, a desk on the far right next to the window. Books and his book bag on it, a mess. His video games out Infront of the Tv he had in his room. A retro tv but cal never really cared for technology. His closet was closed but inside probably was a huge mess.
"Nelly, sorry about the other day" he began saying with a regretful face. Nelly nodded as she walked to the desk and sat on the desks chair."It's cool, I know you can't always understand the situation I get into." Nelly replied as she avoided his gaze
"I wanted to ask...are you and...nick...-?" He began asking his voice trailing off, and the atmosphere seemed tense.
"Not exactly. He's a good guy, our relationship is...just...partners. Just friends" nelly told him as she began looking up at cal nervously.
"Are you sure? You don't seem sure." Cal stated as he sat on his bed, his eyes focused on her. Nelly squirmed under his gaze, his blue eyes seemed like they wanted to pierce her soul to find the truth at the moment.
"I told you, It's nothing. He and I have nothing going on..." She told him, but she herself wasn't sure about her relationship with Nicholas.
"Nelly...can I tell you something?"
"Sure, that's why we are best friends"
"It's the girl I like...she's...uh...I feel that she's distancing herself from me, changing, you know...And I-uh"
"You're worried?" Nelly asked him, her nerves were acting up, and she wanted to know if it was Chloe he was talking about.
"Yea, I'm worried...I feel that she's changing and leaving me behind, she's never had to change..and I'm worried she may leave me behind" cal said quietly as his eyes were very focused on her.
"Well...I don't know what to say...if the girl doesn't realize you like her, then..she won't ever know or respond to you, so you should tell her if you like her" nelly suggested,
"Okay...I'll call her tonight then." Cal said as he began going for his phone. Nelly felt herself become nervous. He was surely to call Chloe.
"I'll leave now, I have to get some sleep, I'll see you Tomorrow" nelly said quietly as she began leaving.
"Wait." Cal told her as he already had the phone in his hand
"Yeah? Don't you need to call the girl? Go ahead, I don't wanna bother" nelly said as she began opening the door and cal pressed the button on his phone screen. In seconds, nellys phone rang. She looked at the phone and back at cal. Her eyes widened in surprise.
"Aren't you gonna pick up?" Cal asked as he held the phone to his ear.
"C-cal? Stop joking around"
"Pick up" cal ordered her and nelly sighed, answering the call. Cal smiled at her.
"I like you, and I have liked you for a while...would you go out with me?" Cal asked and Nelly's eyes went wide. She felt her heart beat faster in both excitement and confusion.
"I-uh-cal...I don't know"
"Just say yes," he told her through the phone even though they were standing Infront of eachother.
"Cal...I can't...I mean-just give me some time to answer okay?" Nelly asked as she hung up the phone and looked at cal confused and shy.
"I'll give you some time...but I have to ask once more. Are you hesitating because of nick?" Cal asked as his eyes turned a slight cold towards her. Almost testing her, to see what she would do.
"No-Yes. No, it's just...I need to deal with some things first...and then I'll answer...okay? Please?" Nelly asked putting on her sweetest face she could manage. She knew cal would believe her like always, but this time cal didn't seem to budge.
"Okay. I'll give you time. Exactly 4 weeks, prom is very soon, and I need a date" cal told her with an unemotional tone.
"Yea, fine. That's cool, I'll...I'll see ya later, okay. Yes. Bye!" Nelly said as she rushed out of his room and went back to her own house. Her breathing was shaky, her heart racing, her palms sweaty and her brain confused. It was too much to handle. Her feelings for cal versus her feelings for Nicholas.
That night, her dreams only replayed cals confession to her. And worst of all...nick was there watching.
