Renestrae slammed her shoulder as hard as she could into the driver side door of Dageus' car. Both her and it were at the bottom of a lake and water was quickly pouring in. This was the worst, still being able to breathe somehow gave her hope that she knew was pointless.
She was just about to slam her shoulder into the door again when she saw the glowing red eyes of the Kelpie through the drive side window. She screamed loudly and propelled herself to the passenger side of the car, the side that would have been the driver side in America.
Not the point, you need to find a way out!
She knew that was true but what could she really do? It was either slowly drown here inside the car or endure, the gods only knew what, out there with the Kelpie.
As water filled the car up to her chin panic began to overwhelm her to the point that she could no longer think logically.
"No! Please, let me out!" She scream hysterically, though she knew that there was no stopping it. There never was.
"Are ye afraid, Lass?"
"Fuck you!" She screamed as she stood up as far as she could in the car, taking her face out of the water. It gave her seconds, a minute at best but she would do anything to forestall the painful and hopeless feeling of drowning that she knew was inevitable.
"More will die, Renestrae."
Her lip began to quiver and then she couldn't stop the sobs that wracked her body. All these people where dying because of her.
'No, that wasn't true and I can't think like that!'
"Ye will only sentence more to death."
As the water rose back over her chin she turned her face up towards the top of the car to take her last few gulps of air. The time was upon her now and she could no longer delay the inevitable.
"Ye can stop this bloodshed, Lass."
She took one last deep gulp of air before the water completely filled the car and there was no more of it to give her relief. Like usual at first it wasn't bad but the longer she sat there looking out the passenger side window, away from the Kelpie, the more she could feel the tightening in her lungs.
Then all of a sudden it was there, red eyes staring back into her brown ones. She jerked her head back, her hair following the motion in the water then floated up around her. It would seem that the monster still wouldn't just let her drown in peace.
'You're a monster.'
The Kelpie snorted, sending violent bubbles into the water just outside the window. "I am merely delivering on my promise, Renestrae. Ye are the one who allows it to happen. Come to me and the town will be spared."
The tightening and squeezing of her throat and lungs continued causing her own tears to mix with the water as she shook her head. She was a big fan of helping people but she wasn't about to become a martyr.
'Fuck you and the horse you rode in on!'
"Ye think this is funny!" The Kelpie roared.
Renestrae would have winced in fear but the convulsions were beginning to wrack her body and she could already see black dots forming before her eyes.
'I think it's hilarious!' she thought venomously as the need for oxygen burned in her throat so badly that her hands came up and she began to claw at her throat in desperation.
