I'm in Hell, was Renestrae's thought as the doctor dressed her wound and placed it in a sling. She was not good when it came to pain, had absolutely no tolerance for it actually, and this hurt like, well Hell. She was going to have to talk to Evelyn when she got out of here, and when she said talk she meant strangle. Maybe she wouldn't strangle her, maybe she'd shave off all her pretty honey-blond hair while she slept. Yeah, that would be good, that might calm her down, somewhat.

Seriously though, they had to go over some safety rules, like no archery in the fucking house!

"You're lucky Miss Frank."

"I'm aware that I could have lost the use of my arm, doctor. Is there anything that I should be aware of?" She asked, thankfully she could already feel the painkillers they gave her taking affect. She doubted the doctor would forget the feeling of her foot connecting with his leg as he had taken the shaft out of her shoulder.

Evelyn was lucky, she knew, had it been her wielding the bow she'd be on her way to a jail cell for murder, not going back to the old church with instructions to use the arm as little as possible. She thanked her lucky stars that Evelyn's aim was so terrible.

"Just take it easy and try to use that arm as little as possible while it's healing. I'd also give that little friend of yers a stern discussion about bow safety."

Renestrae smiled. "Way ahead of you doc. That's going to be the first thing I say to her when I get out of here."

The doctor raised a single grey eyebrow at her.

She sighed. "Alright maybe not the first thing, but it's high on the list of things to say to her.

"Miss Frank, don't ye think this is a discussion ye should have had before such an incident occurred?"

Jeez, she didn't even bring her parents with her on this trip and between Evelyn and now the doctor she felt like she was getting scolded and feeling properly chastised more than she would have back home.

Embarrassed she brought her free hand up to rub the back of her neck nervously. "Well yeah, but at Evelyn and Kaloria's age I would have thought 'don't shoot in the house' would have been common sense, especially when it's not even our house."

He laughed. "I think you'll find, Miss Frank, that to most of your generation common sense is a superpower. Why, take young Alec for instance, before he passed-"

Renestrae held up her free hand to silence the middle aged doctor. "You don't have to bother with pleasantries doctor, I'm the one that found the body. I know all too well that Alec was murdered."

Understanding lighted Doctor Ciar dark blue eyes. "Ah, my apologies lass. Someone as young and lovely as yerself should never have had to see that."

She frowned "I don't think it rightly matters how young or pretty you are, it's still horrible. No one should have to drown."

"Excuse me, lass but how do ye know of the cause of death?"

"Constable O'Cain, doctor. You see Constable Camshron accused me of using one of my arrows to cut open his chest but since the cause of death was drowning not from an arrow...I think Constable O'Cain called to tell me to put my mind at ease, not that it's stopped Constable Dean from trying to throw me in jail." She scoffed. "Like anyone can be at ease with a killer on the loose."

Doctor Ciar scowled. "Fools the both of them. I suppose he didn't tell ye the rest of the report."

She shook her head.

"Of course not. Miss Frank, if ye were the killer they would have found some kind of DNA, either on ye or on the body.

Instantly her brow furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean."

"I mean, they would have at least found yer saliva. Alec Dunaigh's chest was not cut open, it was torn with teeth."

"Wha-"

"His heart wasn't cut from his chest Miss Frank, it was eaten as were the other victims.."

Kelpie! Her mind screamed at her. She hadn't wanted to believe it, had tried valiantly to tell herself that her gut feeling was wrong but...No, this didn't prove anything! The only thing it proved was that there was a very sick person wandering around out there.

"What were you saying before doctor? About when Alec was alive?" she asked nervously. For all the excitement she had she was finding that she liked Scotland less and less. It seemed a lot safer when she was watching Braveheart in her living room in Sherwood, Michigan.

Doctor Ciar smiled. "Ah, well you see Alec Dunaigh saw me quite often for injuries he could have avoided had he the good sense that god gave a squirrel."

"Well, thank you for everything doctor, and I do mean everything, the information will prove quite useful next time Officer Dean wants to throw me in jail for som-"

Suddenly Kaloria came running into the room. "Ren, we have a problem."

She smiled nervously. "Like I said, thank you for everything doctor, and I'll try not to aggravate my injury anymore." She then turned and walked out the door with Kali.

"What is it?" she whispered, from Kaloria's reaction she got the sudden feeling that whatever it was, it was of a delicate nature.

"It's Evelyn," Kaloria began, her voice quavered and it didn't take a specialist to realize that Kali was frantic. "she's been arrested for trying to kill you."

"Kali, I might still be mad but I don't want one of my best friends to go to jail. We'll just go down to the station and explain that I won't be pressing charges. I'm pretty sure they can't hold her if I do that."

"That's not what's bothering me, it's what she said before they arrested her. I think they might send her to an asylum for this."

Renestrae scoffed. "I'm sure it's nothing as great as all tha-"

"Ren, she told them that she thought it was a Kelpie coming through the door and that's why she shot you" Kali whispered urgently.

Immediately upon registering what exactly it was that Kaloria was saying Renestrae stopped in her tracks. Alright, now that had her attention. She knew Evelyn and Evelyn Dalamasso did not believe in mythical creatures or even U.F.O.'s for that matter.

"Wait a minute. Evelyn, as in our Evelyn said she thought I was a Kelpie?" She asked skeptically, she wanted to believe this she really did, but Evelyn? Evelyn who continuously made fun of her and Kaloria for this kind of thing. Evelyn, who thought she needed to grow up.

"Yes, It doesn't make any sense...You don't think she saw something do you?"

Renestrae glanced at Kaloria from the corner of her eyes. "She must have, or do you see Evelyn believing that a Kelpie was going to attack her otherwise."

Kaloria sighed and shook her head. "No I don't."

"Then let's get down to the station and bust her out."
