Evelyn woke up in bed with a gasp. She had a horrible terrible feeling that something had in fact happened to Renestrae, her fear and sorrow hung almost tangible in the air. She sprung out of bed as a tear made it's way down her cheek. Screw this waiting game, she was going to the police now.
It took her less than five minutes to get dressed, and she stormed over to Kaloria's room and demand that the girl get up when the door was thrown open.
"Ren's in trouble!" They shouted at the same time before making a mad dash for the front door and the car. As the scenery flew by at an alarming rate Evelyn found that for once instead of being frightened of it, she was grateful for Kaloria's bat out of hell style of driving.
They weren't parked in front of the police station for a second before Evelyn was rushing through the doors, and racing to Constable O'Cain's office and knocked urgently. She knew it wold sound like she was overreacting but she just knew that there was something terribly wrong
"What is it, Lass?" Gordan asked as he opened the door on a frantic Evelyn Dalamasso.
"Renestra has gone missing!"
"What do you mean Lass?"
Evelyn narrowed her eyes in anger. "What I mean officer is that my best friend didn't come home last night and people around here seem to be dropping like flies." She growled.
The Constable's eyes grew wide before he tore down the hall and threw open the door to Constable Camshron's office. She didn't follow but then she didn't have to with the shouting she could hear every word.
"Where's the fire Gordon? Another body?"
"No. Renestrae Frank has gone missing, we need to get out there and start looking for her."
"So she finally realized that we would find out she was guilty and ran, I can't say that I'm surprised."
"Put your damn vendetta aside! We have a missing person to find, and if this follows the same pattern then we'll be looking for her body!"
"Good riddance! I told Dageus that contest would bring nothing but trouble down on us. Do ye really think it's just a coincidence that the murders started happening after those girls arrived in town?!"
"There isn't a shred of evidence from our investigation to incriminate those girls now get off yer ass and help me look for her!"
That was it, Evelyn had, had enough, she could feel her blood boiling under the skin with every word that Constable Camshron spoke. How dare that son of a bitch refuse to help them look for her friend. She only really knew about the police in America so she could have been wrong but wasn't his job to serve and protect.
With the determination of a woman that had just decided she was going to get what she wanted, consequences be damned she strolled into Constable Camshron's office, walked right up to the bastard without saying a word to either one of them, pulled her fist back, and smiled when it connected with his nose and made that satisfying crunch sound. Her hand hurt but it was worth it, now she understood why Renestrae liked to punch things on the rare occasion that shouting didn't seem to get her point across.
"Ow, ye bitch! Arrest her Gordan!" He growled as he held his nose as blood poured from it.
"You're going to help us find my friend or I swear to god I will bring a wrath the likes of which you have never seen down upon you. Trust me, you have no idea who your fucking with!"
"Easy Lass, We need to look for her Dean." He then turned Evelyn around and walked out of the room. "That was very foolish of ye, Lass."
"It may have been but it felt damn good at least." Evelyn said as they walked through the doors of the police station and Kaloria fell in stride with them. The girls quickly got into Constable O'Cain's car and drove off.
"Where did you last see her?" Officer O'Cain asked.
"At the house we're staying in." Kaloria answered "Dageus MacArtair was taking her out on another date."
Constable O'Cain's brow burrowed in confusion. "A date lass?"
"Yes a date, you know that thing you take a girl you like on to get to know her better. He's been trying to charm her practically from the moment we arrived."
"I know what a date is. It just seems strange, in the time I've been in Fearchar I've never seen Dageus show even a passing interest in any lassie, yet ye say he's been pursuing Miss Frank since ye got tae town."
"Relentlessly." Evelyn answered through her clenched teeth. She'd never gotten an entirely good feeling about that guy he was too smooth and the look in his eyes was sometimes entirely too creepy for her liking.
"Did yer friend say anything about where they were going?"
"No," Kaloria answered regretfully. "she only told us that she was going out with Dageus and that she'd be gone for a couple hours."
Suddenly Evelyn leaned forward and glared at Constable O'Cain. "I know what you're thinking but you don't know Renestrae. She has always had a habit of thinking about other people's feelings before her own. Even if she was staying the night with him there's no way she wouldn't have called either last night or this morning. Something is terribly wrong."
"It will be alright lass, we will find yer friend then I think the three of ye should really consider going home."
Evelyn and Kaloria glanced at each other, and both of them had the same thought in mind. Wild horses couldn't keep us away.
They looked for hours and the sun was starting to sink into the horizon when they finally found what they were looking for. It wasn't Renestrae but both Kaloria and Evelyn shouted "Stop!" when they saw the cherry colored 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air.
They weren't even fully stopped when they jumped out of the Constable's still moving car and started running towards the vintage one but they stopped when they turned to the waterfall.
"This place is so beautiful she would have forgotten her fear." Evelyn said as tears gathered in her eyes.
"Ev, don't cry we don't even know happened yet and...No!" Kaloria gasped as her eyes landed on the bow and arrows sitting harmlessly in the grass with no one about.
"What is it?" Evelyn asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.
"Ev, it's her bow." Kaloria answered as her bottom lip quivered and she pointed a shaky finger at the weapon sitting in the grass.
Evelyn saw it, but she didn't understand what Kaloria was crying about, that was Renestrae's bow and that meant that she had been here. It wasn't much but it was something to go on and it wasn't her body.
"She never goes anywhere without her bow Ev. I-"
"Shut up!" Evelyn snapped. "She's not dead yet...she can't be. I won't believe it until something is found." She promised, but right now she realized that her and Kaloria had to get out of the way so that Constable O'Cain could do his job.
