Jim's POV
"One more shot...Great! That's a warp everyone."
The photographer of the shoot made an awesome job, and I sense the pictures might be wonderful. After an entire hour of shooting, I am finally done, and I can call Amelie.
I walk over to the dressing room, and get changed from the suit I wore for the shoot to the comfortable clothes I was wearing when I got here. Once I'm done, I take my phone and turn it on. As I do, I realize that I have four missed calls from Kaley.
"What the?" I whisper to myself, since I am confused.
I insert the password of my phone, and rapidly dial Kaley's number. After the second beep, she picks up.
"Jim?" she asks, as she listens to my voice saying hello.
"What's up Kaley?" I ask, trying to hide the preoccupation in my voice.
"Oh, I was just wondering if you know where Amelie is because I've been waiting outside her house for almost 30 minutes now, ringing the doorbell, knocking, and she doesn't open. I've also called her five times, but she won't answer my calls either."
I feel a sudden shot of anxiety hitting me as Kaley says this to me.
Calm down, Jim. You just talked to her an hour ago.
"But I just talked to her about an hour ago, and she was home. Are you sure she's not there? Maybe she's taking a shower," I say, trying to think positive.
"I don't think so, Jim," says Kaley. "The lights of her room are off, but her car is here."
"So...she must be home."
I try to think about where she might be, but I don't get anything, and I am kind of starting to freak out a little bit.
"Is she mad at me? I mean...did I do anything that could make her mad at me? I don't know!!!" cries Kaley.
"I doubt it a lot, Kaley. She told me she would wait for you to go to brunch, she never mentioned anything about being mad at you."
"Then???" talks Kaley, a little desperate.
"Okay," I start, as my lightbulb turns on. "Stay where you are, and I'll call her. Maybe she'll pick up my call."
"Alright," she says. "Let me know."
I hang up, and quickly look for her on my contacts, clicking on her name.
I call once...no answer; twice... no answer; three times...no answer; four, five, six, seven.
I start feeling anxiety running all through me, as she doesn't answer my calls. I try texting her, but it says that the last time she was online was at the time I was talking to her.
Hey darling, I send, my fingers moving rapidly.
Please answer.
I wait a moment...no online.
Dear, are you okay?
Please don't scare me.
Ams?
Amelie?
AMELIE?!!!!
I wait for a few more moments, and then...she goes online. I let out a breath of relief, as I see she's typing. Finally, I receive the message, and read carefully.
Nothing ever goes unpaid. I made a promise, and I'll keep it. It is time to take revenge for everything that's done, and that starts tonight. Say goodbye to your dear Amelie.
