* Many years later *

Amelie's POV

Jim's phone starts ringing.

"One second," he says and turns around to answer the call.

I am sitting on my bed at my house in L.A. Jim and I have been best friends for many many years now, keeping the promise we made a long time ago, always staying together. We could say Jim likes to spend more time in my house than in his own, at the end of the day, Jim being in my room is not weird at all anymore.

Through all of these years many things happened. Jim and I have never been apart since the day we met. We went to college together, and then moved to San Diego to continue our studies. Jim received an undergraduate degree in Theatre and a master's degree in Fine Arts, following his dream of becoming an actor. I received an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and later got a Ph.D. in Physics and Astronomy. Then we moved to New York to support Jim's dream. Today, we are living in L.A., Jim auditioning for several parts. Our houses are not far away from each other, as usual.

"Alright," I listen to Jim talking on the phone. "Yes, thank you very much...Goodbye." He hangs up. "It was my manager," he says.

A shot of anxiety runs though me. We were waiting for Jim's manager to call, but Jim's tone of voice doesn't transmit me any good news.

"And..." I start, "what did he say?"

"I didn't get the part," he says disappointed. He sits on the couch next to the bed.

"Oh, Jim I am so sorry to hear that," I say, standing up and walking towards him. "Remember what I always tell you 'maybe there's something better waiting for you in the future.'"

A huge smile appears in his face and he turns to look at me. I stare at him, confused.

Why is he smiling? I think to myself, not knowing what is going on. Then, Jim starts laughing.

"I cannot believe you bought that," he says, trying to contain himself.

"What?" I ask, confused.

"I GOT THE PART!!!!" he says, smiling, a huge smile.

"WHAT?!" I ask, a lot more cheeringly now.

"YES!!!" he shouts, standing up.

"AHHHHHHHH," I shout, running towards him and give him a hug. He lifts me up in the air. He can carry me so easily because he is a head taller than me. I always try to wear high heels when I'm with him.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE IT," I say. "We have to celebrate!!!"

"Yes we do!" he says, excited.

"Soooooo??" I ask. "Tell me about it."

"About what?" he asks, looking confused now.

"Your part! What is it about?"

"Ohhh, well," he starts sitting down on the couch, "as I told you, the show is called The Big Bang Theory, I will be Dr. Sheldon Cooper. He is a very unique individual, that's mainly the reason why I got attracted to the character. He is a theoretical physicist-"

"Owwwwww. I like that," I say laughing.

"Yes!!! I knew you were," he laughs. "Anyways, it is a comedy, basically about some guys that are really smart, love comic books, video games, some struggle with girls, Sheldon is simply not interested in girls AT ALL, and...yea. I think it could be fun."
