Chapter 9: Record Deals and Family meetings

*Maddie's POV*
I woke up and immediately groaned. Last night was awesome until I almost got raped. My stomach and face probably have the biggest bruise mark on them. I rolled over to see a calmly sleeping Zack and smiled to myself.
"Zack." I whispered and shaking him a little.
"Mhm" he groaned opening his eyes a little."good morning."
"Good morning but I have to start getting ready and hide my bruises." I said as his eyes grew wide.
"Bruises?" He basically yelled.
"Yeah Cody left a mark on my cheek and I really don't feel like not getting a record deal because I look like sh-" I stopped and shot up. I ran as fast as I could to my bathroom and started to puke up my guts. Zack walked holding my hair and rubbing my back.
"Are you okay?" He asked as I nodded.
"Yeah um it's just because of how hard he hit my stomach." I said as he looked at me.
"Pull up your shirt." Zack said not sexual or anything probably just thought about the mark. I lifted my shirt and there was a giant black and blue bruise size of a grapefruit.
"Oh my god" I said as Zack immediately left the room so I ran after him.
"Zack where are you going?" I said yanking him back. Stupid mistake he turned around and swung hitting me straight in the jaw. My hand immediately went to my jaw. He looked shocked.
"Maddie I-I'm sorry I got angry and I couldn't con-" I cut him off.
"Yeah I heard it all before just go." I said as tears threatened to leave my eyes. He nodded and left slamming the door. I was scared. I mean Ik he didn't try but idk.
"What was that?" Dad asked as I turned around my hand still to my face as a few tears left my eyes.
"What happened? Remove your hand." Dad said calmly as the rest of the boys came downstairs. I slowly removed my hand revealing a really bad bruise but not as bad as my stomach.
"What did Zack do?" Dad said examine my face.
" I don't want to talk about it." I said walking back upstairs.
"Madeline please talk to us." Luke said.
"He saw the bruise on my stomach and got pissed. I yanked him back to talk to him and his anger got the better of him." I said turning around." I told him to leave but Ik he didn't mean to hit me."
"Let me see the one on your stomach." Dad said as I lifted my shirt up and revealed it. They all gasped.
"I'm gong to go get ready for my meeting thing and please don't be mad at Zack he seriously didn't try I just walked in on the wrong time." I said as they all nodded. I went upstairs and turned my music on. I went into the shower and did my usual. I came out and put on high waisted skinny jeans. A strapless baby blue tank top that had black patterns on it. A dark blue jean jacket. And my black converses. I put make up over my bruised face and stomach. I left my hair down in its wavy state. I grabbed my phone and saw that I get a texted message from Addie and Zack.
A= I heard what happened with Zack. I am so sorry he never hits a girl unless he's super pissed and he is super sorry and says he didn't mean to. He said that it okay if you want to break up with him
I messaged her back
M= it's okay I know it was an accident and I'm not breaking up with him I have to go though so ttyl
She msged back saying okay and I read Zacks msg.
Z= Maddie I'm so so so sorry I hit you I seriously didn't mean to if you want to break up that's fine I understand but I promise I will never hurt you again. I'm sorry
I msged back.
M= babe I'm not breaking up with you. Ik it was an accident and I understand. I was upset yes but now I'm over it. Ily and always will no matter what. Yes dad is mad at you but I told him it was all one big misunderstanding and you didn't mean to.
He msged back.
Z=ily2 and I figured he would be but in truly sorry could I come back over.

Z= okay
I went downstairs and saw my dad was in the phone.
"Who's he talking to?"
"Anne his mum" Michael said as I nodded and there was a knock on the door. I opened it and it revealed a crying Zack. I immediately pulled him into a hug.
"I'm sorry I really am. I didn't mean to, I tried to control my anger but it got the best of me and I'm sorry I really am." Zack apologized crying as I put my head into his neck.
"Babe it's okay. I know you didn't mean to and Ik your sorry. It was one big misunderstanding and you didn't try. I understand." Said letting go and looking into his glossy hazel eyes. I pulled him inside and dad hung up and looked at us. Dad got up and immediately walked over to us as he started to punch Zack.
"Dad stop!" I yelled trying to get him off. He got off and walked away. I looked down at Zack and he had a bloody nose. I ran over and got him a warm rag and put it against his nose.
"Dad why? He apologized and I told you not to." I said as dad shot me a glare and ran upstairs. Calum and Michael came in the kitchen and saw Zack leaning back against the counter on the ground holding the rag to his nose.
"I can't fucking believe this" I mumbled as I got up and walked upstairs. I walked to my dads room and knocked.
"Go away" he called as I rolled my eyes
"I can't you adopted me let me in please" I said as I heard a click. I walked inside and saw dad laying in his bed.
"Dad I understand that he hit me but we went threw this and agreed it was one big misunderstanding. All I want to know is why did you hit him?" I asked walking over to him and laying next to him.
"Your my daughter, I'm suppose to protect you. Ik what I did was wrong but you come first." He said sighing. "I'm sorry okay, when I saw you crying and both of the bruises I lost it and I took it on him."
"Dad I get it that I'm your daughter and your my protecter but sometimes I can handle things myself and if I can't I'll come to you for help." I said as we hugged."now I got a bloody noses boyfriend to deal with then we can have a daddy daughter date, then we can go to my record deal thing." I said as he nodded. I went downstairs and saw Zack sitting in the couch with nose band aids and two kleenexes sticking out of his nostrils.
"Dad says he sorry." I said calmly cuddling next to him.
"It's fine I kind of deserved it." Zack said kissing my forehead.
"So I have to go on a date with my dad then to my record deal do you think you'll be okay here alone with my uncles?" I said as he nodded I hugged him.
"Come on Mads sooner we leave sooner you have some time to hangout with him." Dad said as I nodded and pecked Zack's lips as I left.
Me and dad got into the car. I looked over at dad and sighed.
"Dad don't get mad because it's just a feeling. Um how can you tell when a guy is cheating?" I asked and he looked at me when we were at a red light.
"Well usually the guy won't be paying attention to the girl or he would be sneaking around. Why?" Dad asked driving again. I started to butte my nails because I started to wake up from nightmares at night and Zack would be gone but when I wake up in the morning he is there. I'm not explaining that.
"Why Madeline?" I sighed.
"I don't know I just have a huge feeling Zack is. And that he hit me over a bruise I don't want to ask or confront him about in fear of getting hit again." I said all of that is true just leaving out the nightmares and shit part out.
"He won't hit you. I understand that you are scarred and I don't blame you but I won't let him. Not again. Also talk to him about it. You deserve to know if your right or not." Dad said as I nodded and laid my head in the window.
"Do you think I am- never mind" I said sighing and closing my eyes. We got to Maccas and went threw the drive threw. Tbh I'm not really hungry though. But I put on a fake smile and just ordered fries and a burger. We got out food and dad parked at a park. We got out and walked to a picnic table.
"So I talked to my mom and she wants to meet you later tonight for dinner." Dad said as I nodded. My phone vibrated and it was hate again. Dads fans found out I was his daughter a while back and all I kept getting was hate. The words get stuck in my mind. Ik don't believe them they are lying but it still hurts.

They usually repeat but today's different. The one I got now was super harsh. No one loves you, your loveless go kill yourself oh wait you already tried and failed. Your a failure. "What do you want to do after this?" Dad asked and I thought about it.
"Let's just take a walk I mean we don't talk as much anymore it could be a catch up thing." I said as he nodded. We threw away our trash and started to walk.
"So how's online school going?" Dad asked yeah he had me start early so that way I finished 7th grade a month before we go home from the tour.
"Good I'm I'm almost done with English but I'm having troubles with math. I mean it's easy I just don't understand why letters have to be in it." I said as we laughed a little.
"I as the same way but when you meet Luke's mom she can help." He said as I nodded. We heard a scream and I immediately knew it was a fan.
"Omg your Ashton and Maddie Irwin! Could I have your pictures?" The fan asked as we said sure. After we were done she gave me a hug and told me to ignore the hate. I never told dad so Ik this was gonna throw me in the ditch. She left and dad looked at me.
"Yeah Ik "why haven't you told me?" Because dad it's not that bad and I've been almost two months clean so i think I'm good and Ik Ik talk to me if you need to talk and trust me I will" I said as he pulled me into a hug.
"I have a two questions one) how long as it been going on and two) how did you become a grown up at 13?" He asked as we giggled.
"One) since they found out and two) I have no idea and tbh I don't like it" I laughed as we kept on walking then I remember we left at 12 and we were here for like 2 hours. I stopped walking.
"Shit! The time?" I yelled as he looked at his watch and said 2:15.
"We should get going I don't want to be late." I said as he nodded and we walked back to the car. We got in and went back to the house. I grabbed the guitar and everyone wished me luck then dad drove me there. We were 8 minutes early.
"Hello Madeline. Are you ready." Jimmy said as I nodded. He led me to the recording area and dad was in the other side with him.
"Okay I'm going to have you sing Good Life then sing a different song that I thought you would like." He said and I gave him a thumbs up and put on the headphones. I sang the song and when I was done he gave me a five minute break.
"You are doing so good." Dad said giving me a hug.
"My throat stings" I said with a raspy voice.
"That happens here." He handed me a water bottle. "Better?" I nodded.
"Okay Maddie here is the song you'll sing next and I think you will like it. I read it over and it looked interesting. It was called "secrets" by One Republic.
