I walked into the main room where my flatmate Phil was sat watching TV. "Phil?" I asked from behind him.

"What's up?" Phil asked, craning his neck around almost 180 degrees like an owl to see me. I walked around the couch so that he wouldn't strain his neck.

"So my parents are going on this trip to Texas and they want me to go. It's supposed to be like some all-natural trip. I'll be gone for the next week," I said.

"Oh, cool. When do you leave? Will the video still be uploaded?" Phil asked with the slightest note of concern in his voice.

"I'm leaving tonight, which could potentially cause some problems. This video has to be uploaded in the right way or the joke might not go over. So to tweak the old plan, we could do the same thing and I could send the tweets to promote it like I was going to already, but you would have to upload it for me. Is that alright? I could just text you when to upload it or something... What do you think?" I asked. This video was turning out to be a bit more work than it was worth for being just a prank. I'd had my apprehensions about it already, but nonetheless, I was going through with it and I was sure now that this video was going to get posted.

"Of course I can. Are you not taking your computer?"

"Apparently I won't have any "computer time" because my mum wants it to be a big family thing. Besides, I don't know how the internet connection is going to be, but I'll still try tweeting and stuff. I'm definitely bringing my phone." To be honest, I didn't want to go on this sudden excursion with my family right now, but I didn't have much of a choice.

"Ok! I'll make sure to upload it when you tell me to on Saturday then." Phil said.

"Great. Now I better go pack fifty gallons of bug repellent." Phil laughed at my begrudging attitude, but I wasn't joking in the slightest.

Dan left to meet his family at the train station a couple hours after our conversation, and I went to his room and logged on to his Mac. Knowing Dan for a few years meant that I also knew all his passwords to everything.

The video loaded in the editing program and I watched it once through. I stopped it right before Dan and I explained the April Fools' joke. I cut that part out, and watched it again. I wondered if this video would seem realistic if that part wasn't in at all. I was going to put it back in a minute; I was just remembering something that had happened quite recently.

A few days ago, we were playing Sonic. I was about to win when Dan deliberately knocked the controller from my hands. Now, any normal person might've shouted and been upset, yet who said I was normal?

Instead I plotted to get back at him the next day at an interview we had with some random news station. They were doing a segment on how Youtube might affect cable television and also just general "what is the Youtube phenomenon" type stuff.

After a few questions from this lady who they sent over, she asked, "What's it like living with another Youtuber?" I froze at this. The answer that had popped into my mind immediately for some reason felt like the best way to get back at him for ruining my game last night. I was going to respond casually with "It's really convenient for my boyfriend and I." But before I spoke, I realized how dumb it would be to say that.

I never actually said that in fact, but my pause or facial expression must've been weird because I was rewarded with an awkward silence and strange looks from Dan and the interview lady.

Why I even conceived that idea in the first place was beyond me. I don't even know what I was hoping to gain from that? Dan's humiliation? Although it probably would've embarrassed me more. It was such a rash decision and I couldn't - still can't - find any way to justify why I thought to say that.
