The beginning of a story is the most important part, the first line, the first page, it's the part that captures your heart, the beginning of a story is what determines if you continue reading it, is the book good enough to make you continue and work your way into the middle?
The middle is just as important, but maybe not as much, the middle will probably confuse you, some chapters might make you think that the book is no longer worth your time, but you keep reading, Why? because you believe that the next chapter will get better, maybe this chapter was just a filler, maybe the author didn't know what to write that day, so they just went with it, and by this point, you have already fallen in love with the characters, so if you give up on reading it now, then you give up on them, and you can't do that, because you want to know how their story ends.
Now that brings you to the end of the book, the part which truly determines how much you loved the book, maybe the author kills off your favourite character and leaves you angry, maybe it is left on a cliff hanger, because they're in the middle of writing a sequel, and you get annoyed because you want to know what is going to happen next, or maybe it is a happy ending, who knows.
Everybody has a beginning, A middle, and an end.
In our lives, we probably don't remember the beginning, our parents will, maybe even our older siblings will, our aunts, our uncles, our nans, and our granddads, but we don't.
So maybe the beginning of your story didn't start from the day you were born, maybe it starts from the day that you can actually remember something.
Everyday is a new chapter, therefore that makes it a new beginning, our lives didn't matter to us at the very beginning because we don't remember all of it.
It's the middle that truly counts, because it's the ups and the downs, it's the friendships and the enemies, it's the people whose name you don't know, but smile at them everytime you pass each other on the street, it's the adventures that you take, no matter what the hour, it's the pets that you have owned, and the stupid names that you bestowed upon them, it's all the birthdays that you remember, all the cake and the paint fights, maybe even the pen fights, could have even been the fist fights, it's the games that you played, and the nights you spent under the stars, it's that time you first got drunk, or high as a kite, it's the memories that you made really late at night, it's the 2am conversations, and 3pm laughs, it's your first time on a plane, and the time you spent on the beach watching the sunrise, it's the time where you stayed up all night talking on the phone, and the person you shared your first kiss with, among all the other firsts to go along with it, it's the people you look back on, the people that you miss, the memories that you made, it's all the movies that you watched, and the popcorn fight in the cinema you had with your friend, it's the songs that you belt out, at the top of your lungs, in the middle of the street just to embarrass your friends, it's the looks from strangers that think your crazy, it's the old people that smile as they remember their youth, and the times that they had done the exact same thing, it's the times when you walk around the city, not knowing what to do, or where you're even going, but you don't care because you're with the people you want to be with, it's the people who you thought were going to be around forever, but became a person you never thought they would be, it's the song that makes you cry, no matter how many times that you have heard it, it's that smell that can take you back to a moment in your past, it's the first person that broke your heart, the first person that made you believe you would never find love again.
When we are old and grey, living in an old peoples home, barely even remembering our names, we're not going to remember the beginning, not because of our old age, but simply because we never got to witness ourselves in the beginning.
So as much importance as a beginning holds in a book, it doesn't hold it in our lives.
Because we're not going to remember the day we were born, and our first birthday, we're going to remember the late nights and the sunrises, the laughs and the tears, the heartbreaks and the firsts, we're going to remember the moments that made an impact on our lives.
Yes the beginning is important, because we wouldn't be here without it.
But the beginning will never matter as much as the middle, because the middle is what we will remember, when we are close to the end.
