I looked back to Stiles and Lydia before smiling at Kira, "Sorry! That's my ride. It was nice to meet you!" "You too," she called as I jogged over to Stiles. Lydia handed me a bag and smiled before walking off. I looked to Stiles confused, but instead of sharing in the expression he wore a knowing smile. "What's this," I asked. "She just wants you to be ready for our first official date," he said. I cracked into a smile as I followed him to the jeep.

The date consisted of taking ridiculous photos, star gazing, and binging Prodigal Son. I woke up to him mumbling, "Don't let them in." I sat up rubbing the sleep out of my eyes as I asked, "Don't let who in?" I looked to his doorway and the door was shut. I looked back to see his eyes were closed as he continued to mumble to himself. I kissed the top of his head and combed my fingers through his hair. "It's just a dream," I whispered keeping an eye on him. He started to settle. Just as I went to lay back down he screamed himself awake. I gripped onto him in a bear hug from behind, worried he'd hit himself by accident. He has started to thrash against me. "Woah! Stiles! Stiles it's me! It's Angie. You're okay. It was just a dream you're safe now," I tried to reassure. He was still gripping onto my arms as quiet sobs barely escaped his lips. "It's okay. I got you," I said looking up to see Noah opening the door worried. I got this I mouthed. He nodded walking back to his room.

I combed my fingers through Stiles's hair until he calmed down and wiped the tears from his face. "What happened," I asked quietly. "I kept waking up to the door open just a crack. Every time I opened it to see if there was anyone on the other side I would find myself at the nemeton. Then I would wake up and it all started over again. I-I don't even know if this is real," he said still in a panic. "This is real. I am real. Look I'm going to shut the door," I said getting up. I opened the door and turned on the hall light. "No nemeton," I said and turned it off before I shut the door. I climbed back into bed and he laid on his back staring at the ceiling. I wrapped my arms around him trying to monitor his state of being.

"You need to sleep," I pressed. "What if I have the nightmare again," he asked looking to me worried. "Then I'll be right here to wake you up. Okay? I won't let anything happen to you. It can't hurt you. I won't let it," I said firmly. His eyes searched my face for a minute before he turned on his side holding my hands in his own. "I love you," he said. I felt like the wind had been sucked out of me. I looked to him for a second not expecting it to come from him first. He started to panic behind his eyes as if realizing what he just said. I had been in love with him for years. I never expected it to come from his mouth first. He opened his mouth and I kissed him to stop whatever he was going to say next.

"I love you too. I just, wasn't expecting you to say it first," I explained. He looked to me confused. "I've liked you for a while. You never seemed to notice and that was fine, but I just thought I'd be the one let it slip first, so I was just taken by surprise. A good surprise," I explained. A million questions ran across his face. He just smiled as if deciding they didn't merit answers. His arms wrapped around me tightly and we started to fall back asleep. There was no nightmare this time. For the next two to three months he would wake up from a nightmare and I would get him to settle back down for the rest of the night. He hadn't screamed himself awake since that first night.

I went to the clinic and looked at Kira's snap. I sent her a photo of one of the dogs to alleviate some of her stress hopefully. Deaton was giving me a break from training today and with the extra time I couldn't help but think about how Allison, Stiles, and Scott have been lately. Allison and Isaac didn't exactly spell it out, but they pretty much admitted to being surrogate sacrifices. My nails tapped on the desk as I tried to make sense of it all. Stiles's nightmares, Scott's flightiness, Allison's hyper vigilance. Was it just the after effects? Is there something more that needs to be addressed?
