We made it to the apartment right on time and I started to tidy my room. "Time," I asked as Angie helped. "Twelve minutes," she said and we managed to get it mostly clean. "What if the thing is still in the school," I asked. "They can survive forty minutes," Ange said walking to the bathroom and washing her face. She sounded sure but she still read as anxious as hell despite what she was probably masking. "It'll be fine," she reiterated hugging me. I nodded and pulled out my homework starting it at the dining room table. This will probably be my only time to do it.

The bell rung and Ange walked to the door after setting the bundt cake on the kitchen counter. "Hi," she greeted warmly, "How're you doing Jen?" The switch had flipped. "Hi, I'm good. What smells so nice? New oil diffuser," the DPS worker asked. "Oh no, I was stress baking," Ange charmed laughing off. How was she so good with people? "Hey Angie. My friends want to study for the history test in the library today. TJ texted me," she said. "When," Ange asked. "They said they'll probably be there 'til eight," I said trying to keep from gauging the agent's reaction. "I can drive you after the meeting," she offered. "Yeah this shouldn't take any time at all," the social worker said.

The meeting flew by and we were done by 5:15. We got in the jeep and started back. "They call Noah yet," Ange asked. The charming persona had been switched off. A determined and stoic look rested on her face. In an instant she had become something completely different. "Yeah TJ said police just showed up. They're looking for all the lacrosse kids," I read. "Okay," Ange nodded. We got to the crime scene and were held back. "I'm almost legally the sheriff's daughter," Ange said. "You and Stiles got engaged," he deputy asked. "Not... yet," Ange strained. "I can't let you past," she insisted. "Look, my sister's friends are in there. Just let me corral them and bring them out here and you won't hear another peep from me" Ange pleaded. The deputy sighed and let her through. "You're the best! Chamomile tea one cream two sugars," Ange asked. "And a bacon egg and cheese for the trouble," the deputy called after her. "You got it," Ange saluted pulling me inside.

We walked back inside searching each classroom and stopped spotting another lacrosse player. The others were already in the room. "He hasn't moved since we got here a minute ago," TJ whispered. Liam broke away from the group to keep the rest of us back as Ange left my side going ahead. Liam called out Aaron's name and he started to turn around. A huge smile was plastered on his face but his eyes were dead. Something was wrong. The same warning as the birds, wolves and rats sank in my stomach. Corey was keeping himself in front of me as another buffer between Aaron. It's not like I won't come back if I die. "Hey guys," Aaron said too gleefully. A chill ran down my spine as Mason stated that they were relieved he was ok. "Where have you been," Mason asked. "I forgot we have a history test tomorrow," Aaron replied. "We've been trying to call you," Corey stated. Aaron checked his phone stating, "Oh, guess it died."

The whole room seemed uneasy and Liam stepped forward a bit more. Oh god please be careful. "We'll see you tomorrow ok," Liam stated as if testing him. "Yeah see you tomorrow," Aaron said. He still had a sickly grin plastered upon his face. I bit my lip anxiously. I had to mentally smack myself so I don't chew my lip raw... again. We walked out and I noticed the deputy was gone. Ange brought us back to our apartment. "I got a text from Argent. He needs back up. You okay if I go out for a bit," she asked. "Yeah," I agreed hopping out of the car. I stood silently staring at the apartment complex. She was going out so the unspoken latch key rules applied.

She went with Chris Argent to help Scott and Malia. "I swear she disappears more than I do," Corey stated. "She has been a chameleon longer than you have," Mason pointed out as we walked to my room. "It was a joke," Corey mumbled. "Should we get food," Liam offered. We all nodded. We then realized none of us drove here so we had to walk. Despite my arguing Ange would hate it if we left the house and didn't tell her. We went anyways. The guys decided to cut through the woods to get to town faster. Mason, Teej, and Corey were significantly ahead of Liam and me.
