Annabelle stirred awake. She rolled over to expect Sergio laid beside her asleep, but to her surprise he wasn't in bed. She shot up worried and looked around for him. No one was in the bathroom. Their bedroom door was open so she took caution as she ascended down the stairs. What could he have been doing so late at night. She found him sitting at their backyard shirtless. When the breeze blew by she wrapped the sweater she had around her tighter. She didn't have any pants on. She took a seat on top of her boyfriend and asked what he was doing. He didn't seem surprised when she approached him. She laid her head on his chest and listened to his steady heartbeat with a smile.

"Just thinking about how we got here." Sergio's deep voice explained. His arm snaked over her shoulders and held her close. Despite the cool weather outside, he was warm. The heat of her body made her almost forget how cold she had previously been. Here. She wondered what he meant. She joked saying she had come down the stairs to be here. He chuckled and kissed her temple. "No neña. How I was able to get the most beautiful woman in the world to be mine." He affectionately rubbed his chin on her head. He did find himself wondering how blessed he was. This was after all a girl he had grown up with. She was there for the worst and best parts of his life. She was his number one supporter and fan from the start.

"And to think we used to dislike each other." Annabelle chuckled at their childhood memories. It was crazy to think that they were still friends over ten years later. Sergio playfully hit her and said he never hated her. "Your friends did."

"Those weren't friends. Where are they now?" Sergio pointed out the obvious. She couldn't help but agree with him. "I love you Annabelle." He softly said after awhile. His finger was tracing circles around her arm as they stared at their backyard. It wasn't anything too extravagant. They had a pool, lounge chairs, and a small deck where they were currently on.

"I love you too Sergio." Annabelle muttered as she snuggles closer to his chest. He was truly happy to be with her. He wanted to take it to the next step. But that was solely on if she would allow it or not. It wasn't sex, he never pushed her out of her comfort zone. He wanted to ask for her hand in marriage. He was ready to take on the world with her. As Annabelle fell asleep in his arms, he couldn't help but stare. She looked almost fragile in his arms. He was afraid if he squeezed her, she would break!
His mind went back to the events of the last couple months. For some time they thought that she was gone for good. It took her nearly dying for her true feelings to come and he couldn't be happier. He had the ring buried deep within his dresser drawer. The moment she said yes he had gone out and bought the ring. Something about her just sat well with him. He didn't question or not they would last. He just knew they would. Despite whatever happened, he felt they were meant to be and he bought it. Of course no one really knew, except for Fernando. He had told him just last week. Sergio's been pondering on the perfect moment to ask her.

Sergio finally grew tired himself. He took the liberty to carry Anna back to their room. He gently laid her down back to her side of the bed. He crawled beside her before holding onto her. He drifted to sleep before he knew it. The next morning he woke up to an empty bed and the smell of breakfast down the stairs. Sergio stretched his arms and legs before he threw on a shirt. He was surprised to have heard Annabelle laughing along with someone else. He hadn't expected anyone to be by the house this early in the morning. He beamed with excitement as he saw the back of his friend's head.
