I could feel myself slowly slipping out of consciousness. Then suddenly, all at once, the darkness swallowed me whole. It dragged me under, and pinned me down, unable to move, speak, or feel anything but the pain of a blade dragging across my skin. This sea of shadows, this  ocean of darkness circled around me, and I felt this numbing, drowning sensation, and I knew that this was my last chance to call out for help and change, as a scream ripped through my body.

I woke up with a jolt, sweat pouring off my body, and tears streaming down my face.

"HOLY SHIT, MIA!" my roomate Lauren yelled, barging into my room. "I swear to god I thought someone was in here murdering you! What happened? Are you okay?!"

"It was just a dream," I said, dazed and confused, "just another shitty dream.."

I've been having horrible dreams of a time I wished, so desperately, to forget for as long as I could remember. Even I'm getting tired of them, so I can only imagine how Lauren must feel about me waking up screaming every other night. I feel bad for her, so I'm considering moving out, and just finding my own place, but I've invested so much time and money into the little recording studio in our back room, and I just couldn't bare to leave it.
I turned and looked at the digital clock next to my bed, and sighed as I got up to start my day. I hopped into the shower, shaved my legs and washed my hair. When I got out I had enough time to spare, so I sat in my little bohemian decored room and began to write some lyrics. Some time passed, and I realized that it was already 8:30, and if I didn't move my ass now then I was gonna be late for one of my last classes in my Behavioral Neuroscience course.
I fed my dog, Pike, grabbed my keys, and sprinted out of the house.

How rude of me, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Mia Lynn. 21 years old, part time bartender, part time sales associate at PacSun, and full time student at the University of South Carolina, in Columbia. I'm also incredibly into music, and I've been thinking up my own lyrics, and playing guitar for as long as I've been able to walk and talk.
Music has been such a huge part of my life growing up, and eventually, saved my life when things got rough. My favorite artist? Aerosmith of course. Ever since Aerosmith became a big band about 7 years ago, and the story of Steven Tyler and the bands success reached the media. He's been my idol. My inspiration. Something about his lyrics spoke to me. Something touched my soul, and made me feel as though his lyrics were meant for me.

As I ran to my car, I instantly plugged in my IPod and hit shuffle, and the first song that came on was my very favorite 'Crazy' by Aerosmith. I sped down the road, to the Psych building on campus, basking in the glory that is Steven Tylers soulful voice.
