Chapter 23
Level 1

"Introduce yourself," utos ng homeroom teacher namin.

"I'm Immortal City's Number Six," sabi ko.

I try to look like I'm void of emotion, but I know I'm not doing a good job. I can feel my knees tremble because of utter nervousness. I just hope I don't look like a scared kid about to piss off her pants.

Anyway, I got the correct answer, right? After all, that's one of the rules. I perfectly avoided getting my name exposed.

"I'm giving you five demerits for your answer. Go sit at the back," sabi niya.

What?

I got the first question wrong. What's worse is that I get a demerit for it!

Just how am I supposed to answer then? Damn, I don't even know why we have to hide our real names like we're some sort of secret agents! Is it really necessary? How about Lucienne Starr and Dylan Wright? Those two defy the rule itself.

I don't need to look around to know that my classmates are eyeing me with silent laughter. The way things are taking place is starting to get on my nerves. I've never been this irritated in my entire life.

What a gloomy atmosphere to be sitting in. Not to mention medyo madilim pa. I'm not one to complain though.

Wait.

What the hell?

Is this dude sleeping?

I was humiliated for answering a dumb question and there he is, sleeping like he doesn't give a fuck at all. And he didn't get any reprimand from anyone, specifically from our bastard teacher!

This is seriously pissing me off.

I give up and set my things in place as I sit on my seat, deliberately trying to ignore the guy on my left.

I can't see his face since he's facing his desk with his right arm outstretched in front of him, his back and dark black hair facing me.

Seriously?!

Hindi ba 'to napapansin ng kumag naming teacher?!

I am so pissed and this is all Sir Takano's fault. If he only acted like a responsible principal, he could've spared me this senseless irritation I'm feeling.

Four hours ago, I was fairly contented with everything until he ruined it.

"Congratulations for complying with the requirements, students of Immortal City," I remember the guy in a suit and black shades said when we reached the location we needed to be, four hours ago.

There were six limousines waiting for us and the guy in a suit instructed us to group ourselves in pairs, one group with three members since we're thirteen instead of twelve.

Since it's by pair, I insisted na kami ni Luna ang magka-pares. Zairus wanted us to be the group with three members but Sir Takano flatly rejected the idea.
