I was freaking out. I wasn't sure if I was dressed in the appropriate thing, but what would be appropriate? Something less revealing? If I wanted to be less revealing I might as well be wearing a nuns outfit! I was just wearing my favorite flannel and some tight jeans! But the jeans have holes ripped in them, I think that's too revealing right?! Oh God I don't know!
I was sitting in a deserted coffee shop waiting for Adam to come. I was also waiting for my hot fresh coffee. I really needed it at this point, if not coffee at least whiskey or something stronger. I felt on edge. Katie kept texting me asking me how it was going and me being such a rude person said that I barely got to the coffee shop and to leave me alone, for I was hyperventilating! She than proceeded to tell me that if me and Adam would be no longer friends, she'd be the only real friend I had. Which was true!
Sure I had other friends, but never in a million years would I tell them I slept with Adam or ask them to buy my a pregnancy test without feeling judged. Once again Katie had a good point and I ended up texting her a quick "sorry" and went back to waiting for my coffee and nervously looking at the front door, just waiting for his 6'2 figure.
My heart stopped a little when I did see him walk through the door, holding it open for a little old lady. After that it wasn't hard for him to find me, after all the only people in the coffee shop were me, him, and the lady, and if we were going to get technical, also the employees.
He starred at me for a second but than walked over, it felt like a hour before he actually got to my booth. Well at least to me. I watched him walking towards me in slow motion, each closer step he took, my heart pounded faster up until he slid in the booth across from me. "I ordered you your favorite coffee." I blurted as one of the waitresses put our cups in front of us. I had told the waitress not to bring our coffee out until 15 minutes, which was on dot. "Thanks." He smiled at me, his very cute smile that I saw almost everyday for most of my life.
I couldn't help but see how the waitress starred at him. She had a flirtatious smile on her face. "Anything else hun?" She asks. "No thanks I'm fine." He smiled back at her, obviously not seeing that she was totally in to him. "Well I'll be back in a few to check on you." I had no doubt that she wouldn't. As soon as she left I leaned on the table, smiling. "She was totally into you." I whisper watching the waitress well she walked away, making sure she couldn't hear me whisper to Adam about her.
"Really?" He asks as he turns his head to look at her. "She didn't even pay mind that I was here, she just drooled over you." I shrug, grabbing a sugar packet and putting it in my coffee. "No she didn't even look interested." He shakes his head. "Anything else hun?" I mimicked her voice as he just laughed and shook his head. "I bet you 10 bucks she'll be coming back 'in a few'" I say. He narrows his eyes at me.
"You got yourself a deal." I smirk, leaning back on my booth starring at the girl as she served the little old lady. I bit my lip. This all felt weird, me being here with Adam. For a second I completely forgot why I was here, I forgot why I was so nervous and why I was dreading the day I would sit across a booth with Adam, laughing, talking like we've known each other since birth. Making stupid bets like we were kids again.. Pretty much all the reasons I ever fell for him. It almost seemed distant.
A minute or 2 passed and I was surprised to see the waitress walking our way again. I look over at Adam and smirk. "How are you doing? Need anymore coffee?" She asks, turning her back to me and looking straight at Adam. "Umm no I'm fine." He shakes his head, looking like he was ready to laugh. "You sure? Want a biscotti or anything?" She asks again. I was about to burst out laughing but Adam gave me a look that read; "hold it in"
which was probably the best thing to do. "I'm totally fine." He smiles at her. She smiled for a second, starring at him before turning and walking away. "Oh my god! And you didn't think she was drooling all over you?" I ask in complete shock. "I guess I'm not good at telling if a girl likes me or not." He shrugs. He didn't have to tell me twice! I've been in love with him for how long? And he still hasn't figured it out!
