"Francis, where's your brother?" Francis's mother asked him in his room "and where were you?"
"Who cares where Michael is, he's not a little kid anymore and neither am I" he replied pushing his face in the pillow when he finished, wanting to go back to sleep.
"Your brother is thirteen and you're not even twenty-two yet" she snapped back.
"Like I said, not little kids" he gave her a smart-ass smile, she smacked him on the back of the head and walked out, turning the light off.
"You do know I was here the entire time?" Michael said, crawling out of his hiding place that just so happened to lead into his older brothers room.
"I always know when your in there, now shut up and leave me alone" he replied then groaned and plopped his head back onto the pillow and went to sleep.
"Jocelyn you better be off that phone before I take it away!" Her mother yelled at the bottom of the stairs.
"I am!" Jocelyn yelled back saying goodbye to her friends and turned it off. She rubbed her eyes, school was going great! The last week had been the best year in school ever. The dreams always were different but the same man was there, which was weird. The dreams are constant and it was driving her insane.
"Good now come down here and eat supper!"
Jocelyn got out of bed and ran downstairs to the kitchen and started eating while dishing up "can you at least wait until we get to the table you pig?" Her mother said sarcastically with a laugh.
Jocelyn smiled and took the pot to the table to eat. "So who were you texting?"
"Hannah, Shawn, few other friends" Jocelyn smiled at the jokes in the group chat with Hannah and Shawn. He hasn't changed. Supper was good, Jocelyn wash, dried, and put away the supper dishes.
"Hey mom? Can you help me out with some Spanish homework?" Jocelyn asked, her grandparents were originally from Spain on her fathers side, her father then taught her mother how to speak Spanish, Jocelyn wanted to learn too.
"Well how much do you know?" Her mother asked back.
"Ugh, always a question answered with another question" she groaned.
"That's how your father taught me, I was nineteen was when I started to learn. Answering a question with another question can sometimes changes a subject that keeps you out of trouble" her mother gave her a forced smile.
"I know the nouns and pronouns of ser" Jocelyn got frustrated.
"¿Como esta usted?" Her mother asked.
Jocelyn looked at her confused, then translated "formal way of saying "'How are you?'" Jocelyn said.
"Yeah! I would say that to my elders and you say it to yours, such as your teacher or grandparents, people who are older than you, and remember, if it ends with an A it's feminine, if it ends with an O or an E it's masculine. Example, El Niño-boy, La Niña-girl. Also El is masculine and La is feminine. Ok I gotta go to work, don't stay up late ok?" Her mother kissed her head and left.
"What's so important about this girl Francis? Please tell me it wasn't a zieo-" his mother started.
"No, I haven't looked her in the eyes yet, it's just like a wire and I have to stay hidden, for her safety. I look into her mind and she dreams me, she's safer in dreams than seeing to believe I exist" Francis was getting annoyed with his mother, treating him like a little frightened and useless boy.
"And what happens if you forget your invisibility, get distracted, she wakes up and sees you huh? What then?"
"Then I protect her mother, don't worry about me anymore. I heard your sending Michael to her school, high school" he turned the guilt toward on her.
"You heard what his father said, he's got the brains of a college student, with his knowledge he can go to highschool, possibly start as a sophomore or junior" she turned her back toward him "I hope you know what you doing, you may think your older than your age but you are eighteen, you don't know much and I don't wanna save your ass when you screw your zieo up with her, ending her life in the process" she finished.
Francis shook his head in shame that she has to point out something he made sure wouldn't happen, and if it did, then he would have every pleasure to protect, watch her where she goes, protect her when her life's in danger. Being her hero was what he wanted, but he didn't want to risk everything just yet, he needed time to plan on how to greet her.
He knew she wouldn't scream, his eyes would calm her. It gave him shivers when he had the power of Jasper character in the book twilight, mood control. But he tried it in her dreams, it didn't work, when she tried to make contact he left with a gasp when he tried, there was something about her, like a shield in her mind.
Then he remembered her father, stupid bastard, always getting into trouble. Her mother has lied to her, that he died by getting jammed in the truck by another car. But he didn't. His name was Thomas, people in Francis's world called him dirge, it was the last name a person would hear before they died, Thomas was an assassin. Given a contract by their king, Thomas disobeyed him, a lot.
Thomas was murdered. By the enemy of all Chaos demons, the foreshadowed. The Foreshadowed were damned by the Angel Raziel, given the curse of true beauty but can never feel any human feelings. Just emptiness, which made them insane and later getting themselves killed or killing themselves.
Francis laughed, Thomas had it coming also. Disobeying the King came a price, at first his family was sent to normal humans but kept the power they were born with as it was already permanent in their blood. Thomas was crushed to lose his zieo and his youngest and only daughter. Second came the power he was born with, then third was his life. He never got caught after the second. Then the Foreshadowed came and destroyed him, tearing him limb from limb. The King had said that after that job he would've killed him anyway.
The King never really liked Thomas, although he had his respect before he met his zieo. He has actually been his steward and body guard. The year he had met his zieo at the age of twenty. Then he just suddenly changed, not himself, not as he once was. That made him out of the King's reach and was put out on his own. Francis couldn't take it anymore, he would talk to her in her dream.
