Wednesday midnight
Jocelyn froze in her bed. The man swore under his breath, this isn't a dream, this is real. He was there, she opened her eyes and she saw him magically appear like he was invisible. "Are you afraid?" He asked her.
She felt like she couldn't say anything, she felt like she could see into him, into who he was. When she found her voice she changed her face "no" she replied softly, no matter how heavy her mother slept she would wake up to use the bathroom and hear Jocelyn talk in her sleep.
"Who are you?" She asked.
Francis knew the moment they shared eye contact that this was real, he knew that she was his zieo. He didn't want to tell her, he didn't need to but then she would just keep asking and be annoying "I'm Francis, your Jocelyn right?"
"What are you?" She asked, remembering what her mother said about answering a question with a question.
"I'm not sure I recall-" he started.
"What are you? I know your not human" she let her back relax from being stiff.
"How did you-?"
"I saw you appear where your standing from thin air, like you were invisible" his face was familiar but she could not remember, then it hit her "your the man from my dreams. Those dreams- those were dreams of you watching me, in my sleep right?"
He chuckled "boy aren't you smart, no I'm not human. I'm a chaos demon, I'm the next generation of humans, well I'm not the only one, once a human dies they either choose to live this life or cross over, me and my family chose this" Francis never talked his family this fast to anyone, ever.
"You watched me while I slept?"
"It's hard to explain, you see, I have human feelings, human needs. But I have a power either by blood or permanent spell. I feel connected to you, I know you think I'm crazy" he chuckled again.
"Yes I do think your crazy, it's weird because I feel no connection to-" she was cut off with a flashback, the feeling she felt when their eyes met. Zieo? Could that have been it? What does this have to do with me?
She didn't finish and just looked down "your different from other humans I've met, they always freaked out or screamed but you, your not like them. Why aren't you scared of me? A guy who watched you in your sleep?"
"I'm not scared I'm just- nervous. How am I different besides reactions?"
"I have the power of mood control, but for some reason I can't get into you, it's like a shield around your head. My little brother and my mother think I'm crazy for talking to you, they think I'll mess up and your life would be in danger" he said.
"Why? Your sounding like I have some sort of power or something which is impossible" Jocelyn couldn't believe what she was hearing from a complete stranger.
"Your mother told you that your dad died in a car accident right? He didn't, he was killed by my peoples enemy The Foreshadowed. They actually did him a favor, the king was gonna-" he cut off by a smack in the face from Jocelyn. He looked at her, mad as hell he took a step forward then stepped back telling himself not to hit her.
"How was them killing my father a favor?" She demanded.
"If you had let me finish. As I was saying, the king was gonna kill him anyway, he's the reason why you and your mother are here now. The first punishment of disobeying the king was too lose family" he said, cursing under his breath.
The moonlight from the window made light in the room and shine bright where Jocelyn stood which she thought was weird. But Francis just starred at her, her hair shining, her eyes looking like a thousand stars. She moved back to the bed "you say that you seeing me could risk my safety if you screwed up, why?"
"The foreshadow's leader wants you for the power you have, but that shield in your mind isn't half of what you can do" he replied sitting at the edge of her bed, not trying to get lucky or make her uncomfortable so that's why he sat further away from her.
"Power? What power? Why doesn't my mother have her power?"
"She was stripped of her power, the only one she has left is the one she was born with" Francis took his coat off, Jocelyn could see marks on his arms "these are powers I was given, I really don't think you wanna see where my permanent power is" he laughed to himself.
In the dark, to Jocelyn his eyes looked red. But in that split second it was red, then this purple line crossed their eyes which was apparently how they became a zieo. Then his eyes changed to sort of a hazel color which was strange, a dark human soul with bright eyes. It made him look, perfect. Black curly hair, and he kind of looked like Jon Snow off of "Game of Thrones".
His coat was long and green, as if he were a detective. He wore dark jeans and somewhat of a light blue shirt, like sea colored. He finished explaining his people and the process of becoming one of them, he talked about The Foreshadowed but never mentioned her father.
They talked for hours, but then he watched Jocelyn go into a deep sleep, he could tell that he exhausted her. He silently sat and watched her sleep, and for some reason to Jocelyn, his stare made her feel safer.
"Jocelyn" a voice said "Jocelyn wake up it's time for school" it was her mother. Jocelyn woke up and thought she saw Francis and her eyes got wide and she moved to the wall, her mother looked frightened.
"Jocelyn what's the matter?"
Jocelyn could see him, she pointed to him her mother looked and was confused. She blinked "sorry mom, must've been a nightmare sleep walk thing" she rubbed her eyes.
Her mother let out a sigh of relief "thank god, you scared me" she said and walked out. Francis laughed.
"Now that was hilarious" he said. Jocelyn got mad and threw a pillow at him "not a morning person either".
"I get it, you wanted to see if I went crazy because she couldn't see you right?"
"I only appear when I say show in my mind and I appear, then I say disappear and I disappear" he smiled. Jocelyn got dressed and ready for school, waiting for her crazy and energized friends.
