Your phone buzzes; Izaya Orihara.

'Let's meet. I got what you need.' — His text is short but straight to the point. You agree to meet him in half an hour at his place.

You arrive at Izaya's place as the evening sun casts long shadows across the city. The address he provided leads you to a sleek, modern apartment building. You hesitate for a moment before buzzing his unit. The door opens and you enter the building. You step into the building, take the elevator up, and arrive at his door. You ring on the door. The informer lets you wait for a long moment before opening the door.

"[F/n]-chan," he greets with an exaggerated flourish, a sly smirk playing on his lips. His calculating gaze is unmistakable. "You were quick—were you this excited when I called you over?" he asks, his tone laced with amusement.

Normally, you'd exchange a teasing remark with him, but the uneasy situation you're in keeps you from indulging in his banter. "Orihara," you say shortly.

"Someone is in a bad mood to call me by my last name," notes Izaya, finding entertainment in your situation. He steps aside then invites you in, "come in."

"What do you have?" you ask directly.

"Ah, [F/n]-chan. You always manage to find your way here when the plot thickens. Makes me wonder if I should start charging you a subscription fee."

You ignore his comment, crossing your arms. "I'm not in the mood for your games, Izaya. What else do you know about the Awakusu-kai situation?"

Izaya tilts his head, his crimson eyes gleaming with amusement. "As usually, straight to the point — how boring," he comments, with a clean move of his hand inviting you to follow him to his desk. You follow him to his desk. Izaya walks around it then picks a file on the table and hands it over. You take it.

"Not here to amuse you," you reply. You smirk - silly informer. Izaya smirks, still finding it entertaining how you respond to his provocation. You look over the information, your expression changing.

Izaya observes your reaction to the information you just read. "The group — small but ambitious group, well-armed, and very interested in Ikebukuro's underground market. Connected to its base in Kobe, already present in Tokyo, their territory bordering on yours and Awakusu-kei's." Explains Izaya. "There's been some... interesting movements lately," he begins, tapping a finger thoughtfully on the page. "You already know about the external faction working with Awakusu-kai, but there's more. Rumor has it, they've been courting another powerful group in Shinjuku—one with a penchant for making their problems disappear... permanently."

You frown, leaning forward. "Another group? Shinjuku?"

Izaya smirks, clearly savoring your reaction. "Ah, that's the tricky part. Their name hasn't surfaced yet, but what's certain is that they're funding some of Awakusu-kai's quieter operations. Think of them as shadow sponsors. And guess what?" He pauses dramatically. "They've shown interest in your organization too. You must be making quite the impression.

You turn the pages in the report. Aomori-kai; a yakuza organization based in Kobe, with influence that extends across Japan and internationally. While the organization as a whole is involved in a range of activities from arms dealing to human trafficking, the Tokyo faction operates somewhat autonomously. This rogue faction in Tokyo has begun to independently engage in illicit operations like drug distribution, arms trafficking, and human smuggling, often outside the direct control of the larger Aomori-kai leadership.

You take a deep breath. You're up to a serious threat. You take a moment to process the tangled web before you. If the Tokyo faction of Aomori-kai is operating without full oversight from their Kobe leadership, it opens a dangerous window for other players to exploit. Even so, if the Kobe leadership itself has an interest in your organization and territory then it's even worse.
