Y/N's POV:
The sky above us shed it's silvery blue light over the arena. Ledges of seats laced around the circular arena. I stared as the black and gray dragons flew in a swirling hurricane around us, sparks and flares flashed between the black bodies. There we stood, the last of the Ninja, were back to back, staring in astonishment and fear at the dragons.
Suddenly, the storm exploded and the beasts landed on the ledges, staring at us with bright amber and red eyes. Their mouths were open and smoke billowed into the air, disappearing into air when it got too high. "Welcome, Ninja," a voice called to us. We all whipped our heads to another ledge, and on it stood White Demon. A large, silver dragon stood behind her. It's eyes weren't amber like the others. They were a piercing green.
"This is your last chance to change your minds. Choose me or the hell I'm about to unleash on you," she announced, raising her arms up and her white cape flapped forward, making her look like a goddess or a bird.
Ninja stepped forward, despite his bleeding scratches, his eyes foamed with anger. "I would rather die than do it your way, demon! And I'm sure that my friends would agree. You think you can twist our arms with these dragons? With fear? You are completely wrong! You have no soul, no heart. I gave a promise to someone that I would fight until the very end, and I intend on keeping that promise," he yelled. I nodded and stood with him.
Reaper stood forward, taking out a weapon in his arm. A machine gun. "Behind you for life, brother," he said, nodding to Ninja. We stood together, a wall of will and faith against the blackening odds.
"Very well. Kill, my pets," White Demon yelled to the dragons, disappearing into white smoke.
My heart pounded, like a slow motion moment in a movie, as the dragons around us spiraled and barrel rolled into the air, their mouths open and ablaze with orange and white fire. I blinked slowly and pulled out my sword, hearing the shhhhhhiiinkkt! Of two swords pull out into the light that was slowly dwindling down to black.
Bullets suddenly flew out of Reaper's gun with a whistles and pops. Dragons fell around us and I felt my muscles launch me into the air and take down a dragon without me even knowing it. I suddenly felt like my head was heavy and the air around me with thick as smoke. But I spiraled, twisted, kicked, punched, slashed, and lunged like I wasn't scared of anything.
Ninja's red scarf flashed and flickered between the dropping mechanical beasts that dropped to the ground with clattering grunts until their eyes drained to black. The machine gun behind me popped and fired with white flares at the nozzle, as it spun around, letting bullets fly into the air and at the dragons. I swallowed hard and every sound that could matter drew to a painful muffle.
There seemed to be no end to the monsters. They just kept coming. My arms screamed to give up, to confess their weakness and let me die here with my sword in hand. But I had to keep fighting. I had to! Other wise, Sakira's death, Blue's death, Flare's, Kai's death would have meant nothing!
I leapt back into the air and dove forward, my sword meeting the dragon's skull. A terrified screech sounded as I jammed my sword deeper and deeper into it's mechanical body. Then, with all the anger I held in my heart and body, I twisted the sword around and broke the mech's neck. I was done playing hero. I knew what war was capable of when it was said and done.
But if the legend said I was to die here and now, so be it. I was going to get messy. I was going to get angry. I was going to kill every dragon in sight if I had to. No one's death would have meant nothing to me. No one would be lost. As me and the mech plummeted to the ground, I grabbed it's horns and broke the cords and machinery as it's head bounced into my hands. I threw it away, jumping as the body hit a group of dragons, exploding and killing them all. I saw my sword, silver and a mirror of the dragons on the ground. Then beside it I saw the dragon's head I had pulled off, bits and pieces of the stripped cords and green chips of data were strewn on the cold floor. It's dead gray eyes stared at me, it's sharp teeth covered in blood. I finally felt the gash it left in my arm. The air stung it like a cold needle in my bones. I grabbed the sword and saw that the dragons were starting to thin.
I smiled a little. Maybe we'll get out of this alive, I thought. My chest heaved and I felt the air I sucked into my lungs was heavy.
A cry for help jerked me from my thoughts. I glanced over and saw the green eyed dragon on top of Reaper, pinning his arms and legs to the ground. A swarm of dragons started diving towards the cries. My eyes widened with fear, but my mind shouted for me to save him. I raced forward and picked up a scale of titanium and chucked it at the dragon. "Hey, you! Leave him alone!" I screamed. The scale hit he monster's head and it whipped it's wild gaze to me. It let out a roar and spread it's dark gray wings.
"Snowbird! What he juice are you doing!? Get out of here!" The words rang in my ears as I remembered that's what Ninja had said to me when he was in trouble. But shook my head, pretending not to hear him.
"You wanna piece of me? You gotta catch me first, tin can!" I yelled, kicking another scale at it's head. The mech roared and started lumbering towards me, it's claws scraping the ground and leaving silver marks as it went. I ran away, hearing the earthshaking cry of the dragon as it chased me. But I had more than just that on my mind.
It seemed the silver dragon was the queen of the other dragons and they were all now chasing and flying after me. Smaller dragons dove down at me, their razor bladed wings cut my suite and scarf. Screeches, screams, and growls rang in my ears as the smaller dragons latched onto my back, dragging me down to the ground. I covered my hears and jerked sideways, stopping.
"Get off!" I yelled. One of the smaller dragons fell to the ground, crouching and snarling at me. I turned and stomped on it's head, hearing a crunch and a squeal of sparks that burst from the circuits. I jammed my elbow into another, knocking it off and it shattered on the ground. I grabbed one that clutched my shoulder and wrapped my hand around it's neck. It struggled in my grip. It's tail whipped back and forth, it's jaws opened and shut with it's sharp teeth glittering light. I tightened my grip around the cold metal and strangled it as it squirmed in my hand.
But then the smaller dragons started to fly away again. I stared up in bewilderment before I felt warm air breathe on my back. I turned to see brilliant green eyes staring me, my terrified reflection shining in them. I backed away, holding my sword. "Come at me, bro...," I huffed with a cocky smile. The silver dragon roared and reared up, slashing it's sharp claws at my face. Blocking them was hard to do with one sword. And I had no other weapons on me. Of course they took them! I thought angrily. I guess this'll have to do. Slashing through the air, I tore off scales of titanium. Screams of pain only fueled the beast's anger. At one moment, I was scooped up in its claws and raised into the air. I screamed as the large wings flapped next to my ears.
Ninja turned from the dragon he was fighting and stared at me with wide terror. He turned back to the dragon and slashed it's head off. Turning back to me, he leaped into the sky, anger fuming in his eyes. Aiming at the claws, Ninja sliced off the dragon's claw. It screamed in pain as me and Ninja dropped to the ground. The silver claws were still wrapped around my body. I struggled with the heavy metal over my arms and legs that were scratched and scared from the battle.
I now knew how if felt as the small dragon I had strangled to death before now. I was trapped and I was going to die. Ninja was beside me, trying to pry the claws off me. The silver dragon had landed and was now lumbering towards us. I struggled harder, kicked and pulled at the clenched claws. As the head of the monster came closer and closer to me, I started screaming with tears forming in my eyes. Ninja stopped and charged the animal, but was knocked aside with the dragon's wing.
"NINJA!!" I screamed, struggling even more. But it was almost too late. I closed my eyes and waited for the painful death I was about to live. But then... there was a loud clang of metal on metal. I opened my eyes and saw that Reaper had taken on the challenge. He fired his gun at the dragon. But it was only for a little while before the dragon overwhelmed him and lifted him into the air.
"Reaper! What are you doing!?" I screamed, pushing on the claws again to get free. Reaper waved to me before tapping on a screen that lit up his arm. A series of beeps sounded above. Dragons clouded around Reaper and the silver dragon. Then, a yellow and white explosion brought them all down to the ground. Finally, I had gotten free of the heavy claws, but the blood that ran down my ams had pooled in the palm of the large claw. I stared at it, dark and red.
With the bits and parts of mech dragons, gray-blue roses floated to the ground. "You saved us...," I whispered, falling to my knees, staring at the blue sky above. "Thank you... Reaper..."
"The battle is over, Snowbird." I turned my head to see Ninja walking toward me, his scarf stained with a darker red and his face splotched with small scratches and blood. I stood up and hugged him, feeling the warmth of him like a fire against the cold ice that covered the battle field.
"Touching, and impressive," White Demon's voice called to us over the gray arena. I opened my eyes and felt an aching ball of stone in my head. I blinked away the droplets of blood on my eyelashes and prepared for the last and final fight.
