Olivia had been back home for a month and she had tried so hard to get back into a normal routine and live a normal life but all the time all she thought about both day and night were the times she had spent with Loki in Asgard. She had taken to him from the moment she opened her eyes and they had met his, although at first she wasn't sure if she could trust him or not. All she knew for sure was that he had been the person who had first approached her as she lay battered and bruised chained to Thanos's throne, he had rescued her and that had to mean something. Each day after that though he had taken care of her whether it was just sitting next to the hospital bed keeping her company or later explaining her heritage and then helping her to work out what abilities she had and how to use them. Then just before she was sent home he did the most important thing of all and that was he helped her to regain her voice she would never truly be able to thank him enough for that. She just hoped that by sending him something of her mother's, who he knew was very important to her, he would be able to understand just how grateful she was to him.
However after two months of not being able to keep Loki from her thoughts or work on any of her projects she knew she was never going to be able to settle back in her aunt's old house and so called Steve. She wanted to see if he could help her to locate her family's old property in Canada or at least the area it was in. Her hope deep down was that by moving there she would be able once again to visit Helblindi in Jotunheim as she knew there was a portal nearby and then however small the chance was, somehow get to see Loki again. It took a while but Steve finally got Tony to agree to Olivia staying at the tower while he helped her with her search and so three months after returning home she moved into the tower and put her aunt's house up for sale.
The first person she met on her arrival was Thor who swept her up into a bear hug which she was sure would have crushed a normal person's ribs. "It's so good to see you Lady Olivia."
"Nice to see you too Thor how's...." he cut her off.
"He's dealing with not seeing you as badly as you are not seeing him although I have to say he has not lost any weight whereas you have. He will not be pleased if I inform him of such, he has still not forgiven father for sending you home, he only leaves his rooms to visit mother in her chambers when requested although he does not speak to her, or to train with us occasionally" Thor's shoulders seem to sag with the weight of this knowledge.
Olivia puts her hand on his arm "If you think it will help I will write to him again and you can take it for him when you return next to Asgard."
"I would appreciate that Olivia he asks me often if I have seen you or if you have given me any communication for him."
She smiles as she continues to her own room where she flops down on the bed for the night. Next day she is up early and in the kitchen as Steve comes back from the gym "you ready to start then Olivia" he says as she pours him a cup of coffee.
"I have all the papers from my aunt's house in that box there including all the clues I have to where the property was in Canada so I guess that's what we do first go through it all making notes. Although the deeds are there they do not have the address only the number of the property it must have been a new build when they purchased it so there is only a plot number and British Columbia on it. It seems because there were not many properties in the area they did not feel the need to put any more detail on it."
"They did things differently back then the population and number of properties has increased a lot in Canada since the late 1970's."
He takes the cup from Olivia as they both walk over to the table and start to spread out all the photographs, letters and other items relating to her family's time in Canada. Two hours later they had managed to work out where they thought the property might be and were now in the lab with Tony giving Jarvis all the information they had managed to pull together so he could do a search of the land registries and maps of the area. It took a long time but eventually Jarvis was 99% sure he had pinpointed the exact location and contact had been made with the local authorities to ascertain that in fact the property was unoccupied and still under the ownership of Olivia's family.
Two days later saw Pepper and Olivia getting off a plane and into a hire car heading for Harrison Hot Springs as her family property is located on the way from there to SasquatchProvincialPark. They spend the night and then have a meeting with the local official who has the details of the property and a copy of the deeds confirming that it belongs to Olivia as the granddaughter of the original owner. They have lunch and then start the journey to the house. It takes 30 minutes to drive there and much to Olivia's surprise the house is still standing when they arrive. Holding her breath and using the key she had found in the box with the property deeds Pepper and Olivia climb the two steps onto the veranda being careful not to loosen any of the wood and carefully opens the door. The two women carefully manoeuvre around the house checking on the state of the property and then Olivia gingerly tries the stairs. As each one holds she slowly progresses up to the first floor where she very carefully walks around again the floor still seems to be fairly solid and the roof doesn't appear to have any leaks as all the furniture, curtains and flooring just appear dusty.
Once back at the hotel Pepper calls Tony "hi just to let everyone know we are okay and the house seems sound. There is a small clearing just to the back of the property big enough for the Quinjet to land."
"Okay Pepper so what do we need and I'll have it all loaded and we will come over to you in the morning. I'll call you when we are on the way."
Pepper gives him a list of the things they will need then starts to organise a local cleaning crew and builders so that they can get the house fully checked and prepped ready for Olivia to move in.
As they all set of from Avengers Tower to Canada Thor returns to Asgard with another note for Loki hoping that it will bring him some comfort, he is not however sure how to tell him that Olivia has indeed lost a lot of weight and is looking in his view ill. It takes all morning for the builders to check the structure and confirm that it is solid and safe, that the roof is still weatherproof as are the outside walls and that the decking although fairly safe is the only thing that they really need to get replaced. That afternoon a cleaning company arrive and by six o'clock the house is clean and habitable once more. Pepper leaves them to return to the hotel for the night and then a flight home to New York while the rest of the team all settle on to camp beds for the night.
It took another two days until all of the furniture had arrived and the house was completely set up ready for Olivia to start her new life. After saying goodbye to her friends as they boarded the Qunijet she goes back into her home to make a drink. As she waits for the kettle to boil she takes the Jothun ring between her fingers and thinks about Helblindi hoping that he picks up on her whereabouts and will come to visit soon. Olivia spends the rest of the day re-arranging items around the house until she is completely happy with where items are and feels settled into her old family home.
