Chapter Eighteen - Frigga Defies Odin

"Loki" Frigga shouts through the closed door "we need to go and see Odin immediately." As she turns to walk back down the corridor the door to Loki's chambers opens and he steps out.

"Mother what..." he doesn't finish the sentence as he sees the look on his mother's face, he shuts his door and catches up with her.

Approaching the throne room Frigga brushes past the guards and storms into the room with Loki right behind her. They are both surprised to see Thor talking to his father. As they near the throne they hear his words "this has gone far enough make your choice."

"Odin, Thor" Frigga greets them as they reach the steps to the throne "what decision does your father have to make?"

Before Thor can answer Odin says "take Loki and Eir with you and let Eir decide if she feels Olivia needs to come back here or if Loki will be able to care for her there."

Thor grabs his brothers arm heading back for the door "move it Loki we have to get Eir on the way."

Frigga turns on her husband "I know what has happened and when we know how Olivia is you will need to apologise to Loki, I do not wish to be around when he unleashes his anger on you." She turns to leave the room.

"Frigga I only did what I thought was in the best interest of Loki's well being he has suffered enough already through my mistakes." When she does not stop or turn around he calls out "where are you going?"

"To Midgard with Eir and my sons."

"I forbid you to get involved in this, Eir and Loki can assess her needs."

She turns to look at him her anger evident "you forbid me Odin Allfather."

"I do." She glares at him as she then turns to leave the room heading for the Bifrost anyway.

As she arrives at the Bifrost greeting Heimdall she hears voices behind her "ah the others have arrived" she says as Thor, Loki and Eir join them. "Heimdall when you're ready" she says and they are all sent to the roof of Avenger's Tower. On arrival Thor leads the way to the medical bay where Dr Banner is monitoring Olivia.

Loki rushes past the others to the side of the bed "I'm glad you're all here" Bruce says "I've been monitoring her all the while she's been sedated and her vitals are all over the place."

Eir moves forward to stand by Loki "what does that mean Dr Banner?"

"Oh sorry her heart rate is escalated and her temperature is normal for about 30 minutes at a time but then it suddenly drops dramatically."

"Have you noticed anything else" Loki says as Eir scans her hand from Olivia's head to her toes.

"Her eyelids will occasionally flutter wildly as if she's having a nightmare."

"How long will she stay sedated for Dr Banner" Eir asks.

"She could come round any time now she's been out for about 20 hours so far but due to her mixed heritage I'm not completely sure how long it will be effective for but I tried to gauge it so either you were here or we could get her to Asgard."

"That was very sensible of you Dr Banner" Frigga smiles at him as she moves to stand at the side of the bed by him "Eir is there any problem that you can pick up?"

"Your Highness all her organs seem to be functioning as they should, the alternating body temperature I would put down to her Jothun heritage from what Thor has told us when she got distressed she exhibited the natural Jothun ice making abilities is that correct?" Bruce nods to confirm this "Loki I don't think there is anything physically wrong with Lady Olivia but she clearly does not have full control yet of her abilities."

"No I had not had enough time to show her how to control them before she was thrown out of Asgard." If Eir is shocked by his wording she shows no sign of it.

"If that is the case Eir then I suggest that you and I return to Asgard but that Loki stays here. As and when she regains consciousness they may need him here to help her as I am presuming she will be just as distressed when that happens as she was when she originally lost control." They all move to the door "Dr Banner if you could just step outside for a minute she will be fine with Loki to watch over her" she smiles as she watches Loki who is taking the seat next the bed his eyes never leaving Olivia. "I will await your communication as to how she is Loki."

As they leave the medical bay she turns to Dr Banner "I think that it would be best if Loki is left alone with Olivia I am not sure what will happen when she does wake but from what I have been told I think it is safer for you all to stay in another room." They approach the lounge area where they join the Avengers "Mr Stark, Tony" Frigga smiles at him is there any way you can monitor what is happening in the medical bay without the need to enter it?"

"Yes we have CCTV set up throughout the building if we need to use it why?"

"Loki is with Olivia and as I have just said to Dr Banner I feel it is best if you all stay away I fear she could cause harm to any of you if you are in there with her when she awakens. However having said this Loki may need to be in touch with you if he needs assistance of any kind."

"Jarvis can you call up the medical bay for us please."

"Certainly sir" a screen pops up from the table and the medical bay is shown with Loki sitting next to Olivia.

"Loki can you hear me" Tony asks.

"Yes loud and clear."

"Good we have the CCTV activated in there to monitor if you have any problems if you need anything in the meantime just let Jarvis know. Your mom seems to think it's safer for us to all stay here and leave you on your own with Olivia but we are just down the hall if you need us okay."

"Thanks I'll be sure to call out if I need sustenance or help."

"Thank you Tony we will return to Asgard now where I will no doubt face the wrath of my husband. Thor will you be joining us or staying here?"

"I will come with you both I will not have you face father alone about all this I am taking it that you have disobeyed his direct command to not join us on our little outing to Midgard?"

"You know me too well son." With that they leave for the roof and their journey back to Asgard leaving the Avengers to watch over Loki and Olivia.
