Chapter Seventeen - Relapse

As Thor approached Loki's chambers he was surprised to find Odin shouting at the door a green glow surrounding it so he could not open it. "Father might I ask what you are doing?"

"Thor" he sighs "I have not seen Loki since the argument a week after his return from Helblindi's wedding when he requested permission to visit Olivia on Midgard. He refuses to attend any meals or functions official or not as he is in his words 'a danger to anyone at present', and now your mother is only speaking to me when she has to. I am very glad you have returned and would be grateful if you could persuade them both to stop this madness."

"Unfortunately you will find I am on their side in this, you made the wrong decision and until you do something to change that Loki will not be moved from his current position and I believe mother is old enough and wise enough to decide when and who she converses with."

Odin's face reddens in anger "I did it for his own good, I will not risk a repeat of the troubles he caused last time due to being hurt. I fear what would happen if the wounds I caused were ever reopened."

As he goes to walk away Thor calls out to him "this is hurting not only him but Lady Olivia too. You need to accept mother is right, this is what she saw when we were but mere children." Odin stops to look back at Thor then continues down the corridor. Thor then turns towards his brother's door "Loki open up" he booms.

The green glow disappears and the door swings open "come in before he comes back he's been here for over an hour trying to get me to open the door." Thor walks in and Loki closes his door "do you have any news for me?"

Loki smiles at the huge grin on his brother's face "I have another letter" he pulls it from his pocket and hands it over. "Captain Rogers also says to tell you that he thinks that Olivia will be moving to live at the Tower shortly but he has no idea why or for how long."

"Thank you Thor and can you tell mother that father has again tried to see me and that if she wishes to talk to me to use the usual method, she will know what you mean."

"I will Loki I'm sure she will be pleased to be able to speak to you again. Do you wish me to take a reply to Lady Olivia?"

"I need to see what she has to say first if you will join me for dinner I will tell Astrid to arrange it."

"That would be good" with that he leaves Loki to his read the letter alone.

Dearest Loki

I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner to your last letter and thank you for the books. Your optimism about a possible meeting at some point made me happy and gave me a glimmer of hope. Unfortunately that has been taken away today.

Steve paid me a surprise visit this afternoon. When he was here he told me you were worried that Fury would wish to use my abilities if I decided to work with the Avenger's for which I thank you, but I fear you were indeed right. I will be moving to Avenger's Tower to work with Bruce shortly and if I'm being totally honest I'm scared. From what Steve could find out as Fury only knows about my Jothun form and freezing things I touch this is what he wants Bruce to study.

As you are unable to come to earth I hope that Thor will be around a lot when I get there my biggest fear is that while studying it something accidentally happens that forces my other abilities to show like when Thanos used that thing on me.

I wish I could just disappear but if I do then it could be worse for everyone I care about. I have thought about running away but I know SHIELD would find me eventually so I have reluctantly agreed to do this research as he calls it with Bruce. Part of me wishes I'd never found out about any of this but the other part is glad that I finally know the truth about my mom and dad.
