As they arrived at the portal Odin checked the boxes that contained the parts of the Titan Thanos "why have we split him up and put the pieces into separate boxes" Steve asks.
"Because he is made up of Cosmic Energy that he has pulled together over the years, separating the parts and having them distributed across space will hopefully keep him from pulling himself back together and before you ask, no he can't be killed or die."
"How come" Tony says as he lifts his face plate.
"He is enamoured with Death but she has rejected him refusing him entry to her realm. Until such time as she changes her mind then he cannot actually die."
"Shit he must have pissed her off good" Hawkeye shakes his head "I don't suppose she would listen to reason if she was asked nicely?"
"I'm afraid not" Thor turns to his father "we should get back Olivia is in dire need of our healers from what Loki has said."
They all cross back to Asgard where Loki takes Olivia straight to see Eir as the two Scientists close down the portal. Helblindi and his troops return to Jotunheim, as the Scientists along with the Einherjar, Avengers, Sif, the Warriors Three and Odin all head to the dining hall to eat. They are all enjoying their food when Loki joins them.
"What has Eir said about Olivia's condition?" Frigga questions Loki as he joins them and sits down next to her.
"I have been sent away to eat while she and the other healers examine her. I have been asked to return after I have taken sustenance with you mother as they need us both there to help with the removal of the collar."
"I see, so am I to presume that they have ascertained that the collar does indeed contain some form of magical enchantment?"
"They were not entirely sure. When I left they were more concerned with checking her for other internal injuries that could not be seen. They were just pulling up the soul forge as I exited the healing rooms."
It was close to midnight by the time Loki returned to the healing rooms with Frigga "Eir can you tell us about Olivia's condition now that you have had time to check her over, then we can look at dealing with that hideous collar and whatever injuries that has caused."
"Indeed I can and I must say she is very resilient my Queen for a mortal."
"She is not mortal" Loki interrupts Eir "her father was Jothun and we believe her mother may have been Aesir or at least part Aesir."
He walks over to where they have placed Olivia on a bed as Eir looks back at Frigga "ah that would explain certain things that we have noticed. When I first examined her she had at least five broken ribs, severe bruising and many cuts to her body and face. Yet as you can see now many of the cuts are starting to heal although the bruising as yet doesn't seem to be fading. I checked her again a few minutes before you both arrived and I was intrigued by how quickly her cuts were healing and found that the ribs also appear to be mending faster than expected too."
"That is good news so now we need to deal with this collar" Frigga and Eir walk over to stand on the other side of the bed to Loki "what do you think son, I do not sense any enchantments can you sense any?"
"No I don't think so, I agree we need to remove it but we should be really careful. With Olivia unconscious we cannot ask her how it was attached and her neck seems very badly damaged by it."
"You are right Prince Loki the damage was not easy to see with the soul forge but what we could see of it, it is very severe."
"Right then I suggest if I carefully raise her head up slightly you and Loki should take the collar off as carefully as is possible. If we all work together using our Seidr we should be able to do so without harming her any further" Frigga says as she moves to stand at the end of the bed and a pale blue light surrounds her hands then Olivia's head as she gently raises her up from the bed.
As she does Loki and Eir both use their Seidr to prise open one side of the collar each and slowly remove it. Once the collar is removed Eir looks carefully at Olivia's throat and is concerned by what she sees. "Loki can you bring her back through to the soul forge quickly please?"
He picks Olivia up and gently places her back down on the table as Eir brings up the soul forge around her. "Is there a problem Eir?" Frigga asks as she follows them.
After studying the soul forge and then Olivia's neck for a while she sighs "it is as I thought when we first examined her upon her arrival through the collar" she points. "I am afraid that her throat has been damaged severely internally as well as externally, I fear she will be unable to speak when she awakens."
"Is the damage permanent?" Loki looks at Eir his face full of concern "will her voice return at all?"
"I am sorry to say my Queen and Prince that I cannot be completely sure. Her body seems to heal itself very quickly and with luck her throat will do the same. Although I am pretty sure that when she first wakes she will be unable to speak due to the damage I cannot see any reason why as her throat repairs itself her voice would not return. Unfortunately there is so much internal damage that she may need to visit us many times before her throat is fully healed. It is something that I cannot be sure about we will just have to wait and hope that she recovers fully."
"I do hope that her voice returns" Loki looks at his mother and Eir "I am not sure how someone can survive on Midgard if they have no voice it is something I will need to check on with the others."
