The attack had been only slightly successful for the Imperial Guard, the frontline only slightly pushing back the enemy. But as Haydrax took a swig from his canteen, he was satisfied that they had ended the stalemate only slightly and had pushed back the cultists.
He looked over to see Jaxx, Prhix, Stark, Toombs, Rex, and Drake all together as they looked over their gear and as he looked at the Planetary Defense trooper, he asked Drake, "How did you take this battle? What you would expect?"
"Heck no... Jonathan... and Logan told me about battle but... I never really expected them to be this bad..." said Drake as he looked at them. Above his head, the cockpit to his Sentinel as it stood over them like a guardian.
"No... war is a terrible thing but to many of us, its the only thing we have." said Haydrax as he sughed and sat down on some rubble.
"What do you mean, Inquisitor?" asked Phrix.
"I was from the word Armageddon... the infamous forge world... there, I was a Hive ganger... one of the many..." said Haydrax.
"How did you become an inquisitor then?" asked Toombs.
"I was much like you all are now, a Acolyte... and when I grew better than my master, I became an inquisitor..." said Haydrax.
"So... we could all become Inquisitors in the future?" asked Rex.
"Possibly... I won't deny it... but that's only if we survive this war here..." said Haydrax as he looked at them just as Jaxx broke out the rations.
Nearby, watching the landscape around the area, Eli, Scarlet, and Mac were all perched on a rooftop with their rifle as they kept watch over the lines and as Scarlet put down her rifle, she looked to Eli and asked, "Say.. that sword... its that of a noble, correct?"
"It is. I was once a noble on my home planet but.. things changed... I left... now here I am..." said Eli.
"What about your friends, the other Acolytes?"
"I don't remember much about them... " said Eli. "But I do remember that Phrix came from none other than a Space Hulk.. cannot imagine what she was like before she became a Psysker."
Scarlet nodded as Mac then pulled back from the buildings lip as he said, "Well.. time for some grub, I guess."
They all nodded as they then began to take out their rations and eat them.
Engelbart, Widit, and Theodosius both watched the Ultramarines from where they were sitting nearby and as Engelbart watched them, their Captain, Uriel, appeared next to him and said, "What are you looking at, techpriest?"
"The armor and weapons are the true crafts of Techpriests." said Engelbart
"The Space Marine Techpriests are amazing with their works but there are those of us who forge our own blades." said Uriel as he took out his power sword.
"The blade is not the original." said Widit as he looked at the blade with a critical eye.
"A good eye. The original broke during the first battle of Tarsis Ultra, against the Tyranids." said Uriel.
"It's still a fine blade, I see." said Theodosius.
"It is... It has served me well over the past years... and when the next captain arises, I will give it to him to keep onto.." said Uriel as he looked out the
"It will be a very priceless heirloom for the Fourth Company." said Widit.
As the sun slowly came over Carkiss 10 again, the Imperial Guard prepared for a defense against a counter-attack by the Traitor legions and the cultists.
