When the Mechanicus forces finally landed, it was to great relief of Engelbart, Widit, and Theo that they brought more Skitarii and some Praetorians as well. The six Hyspasists they still had now numbered around 20, two full squads, and they had four Praetorians being lead by another Techpriest of the Omnissiah.
Haydrax watched as Angelo managed to hobble along on his leg as Prhix helped him while Jaxx, Drake, Stark, Toombs, and Rex all were marching not too far ahead with Logan, Alec, and Jonathan leading.
Eli, Scarlet, and Mac were all walking alongside with Phrix and Angelo as they were providing the two a small escort.
Leaving Haydrax with the Ultramarines as they were his own squad.
But as Haydrax looked around at the assembled force, he wished the other Grey Knights had survived since the threat of daemons would be more apparent as they get closer to the grav cannon. And he knew that the enemy would be more than mere Furies. He looked around again as he finally said, "Alright! We have to keep pushing! We mustn't let our enemies hold the grav cannon any longer!"
Everyone nodded as the large group began to advance through the rubble, dust, and ruins as they advanced towards the goal that was now in sight: The Grav cannon, situated on a mountain top, as it would be a bloody fight to take it.
Mac stopped the whole group as he saw it, the few intact buildings on this part of Carkiss 10, as everyone got low to the ground and Haydrax came over with some magnoculars as Eli and Scarlet also joined him with their long rifles as they scoped out the place before them. Then, Haydrax looked back to Logan and Jonathan as he waved them over and the two Grey Marines crawled over as he asked them, "Do you know this place and the layout by chance?"
Jonathan and Logan looked over the structures. They were just near the base of the large mountain and the buildings had obviously been defaced by the cultists and Chaos Marines. The two main buildings had four towers on each corner and were two stories tall. Two pill boxes had been set up in front of each building as a bunker was set up in the middle, armed with an autocannon.
This wasn't including the several cultists around the area out in the open as well as what looked like a few squads of Chaos Marines, mostly of the Tactical variant. As Haydrax continued to look around, he saw no vehicles but knew at least one or two had to be nearby.
Keyword: At least.
"This facility is where the Maglev cannon rounds are held. The rounds are held deep underground ad all of this above ground structures were there for the Mechanicus to study the rounds and the cannons itself. Although I doubt its still intact on the inside." said Logan.
"Those pillboxes are new, although the bunker was from last time, from some Planetary defense guys." said Jonathan as he then said, " but... I don't think there are just these Chaos peons here.."
"What do you mean?" asked Haydrax.
"I have a feeling far more... evil is here than its letting us on."
"What shall we do, Inquisitor?" asked the Ultramarine sergeant as he came forward.
"Prepare to advance. Eli, Scarlet, and Mac, provide us with covering support. I want Phrix to stay with Angelo, since you are a pilot, not a fighter. I want Jaxx and is group to pain up with Alec's group and to flank left. Engelbart, lead your Mechanicus Skitarii to the right flank while I want you, sergeant, and your Ultramarines on me as we go attack the front."
The sergeant, armed with a bolt pistol and a chainsword, nodded as he went to assemble his squad and as Haydrax watched everyone spread out, he watched Scarlet, Eli, and Mac get comfortable as they spread out across the ruins.
