Chapter 21
8:21 A.M.
The five were stood near the parking lot of what seems to be an office area. The building seemed to be slim and was only two stories tall. A lot of the walls seemed to have the same material as a storage unit. Whatever that material is called. Tin?
There seemed to be no staircases but just a ladder on the right wall of the building. Even though it was available, it cuts off halfway before it reaches the ground and leads to the side of the building. It basically led to no visible entrances.
The area seemed to have no visible windows either, and there was only one visible entrance: two metal doors at the center of the first floor.
The parking lot had a few white vans. If you looked close enough, you could peel off the poster on the vans to reveal the actual logo behind it. The posters were decoys to cover up that these were actually scientists' vans.
"Hey, is that the van?" Queen asked. The group looked over at the direction Queen was looking and filled with joy.
"It is! Do you think they left it open?" Haru asked.
"I'll check," Kimmie volunteered, beginning to grip her blade and surreptitiously walk over to Riley's van. The suspense began to grow as she neared it even more.
Haru followed after her in fear that something might pop out of the van, or a bomb could detonate at any time.
Kimmie gripped the handle to the driver's seat and pulled. To the group's surprise, the door swung open.
"The keys are still in the ignition," Kimmie said as she grabbed the keys. She turned to the group and jingled them. "They probably thought that the rest of them were the last of us. It's more than likely that they took the weapons from the car."
"I'll check inside. They probably didn't take the stash of things under the flooring," Haru suggested as he began to search the van.
Queen nodded as her and Steve sat Ellie down in the shade by a tree. Around the parking lot is only trees. Well, besides the main road that's right across the building.
"We can have Ellie stay in here," Haru said as he opened the sliding door. "They didn't take the stash under the flooring, but they took everything else." Haru's blade, Queen's nunchucks, and the rest of the weaponry were gone except for Ellie and Kimmie's items.
"As long as they don't know that we're here," Queen stated while her and Steve carried Ellie into the van. Still unconscious.
"What's the game plan? I see no other means of exit and we have no idea how this lab is laid out," Haru asked.
"Maria did say it's bigger than we think. Maybe there's more floors underground," said Steve.
"Okay. I have a plan."
"And what is your plan Queen?" Haru asked.
"You and Steve take down the guards or something and I disguise as one and look for the others."
"Why do you get to disguise as the guard?" Steve asked.
"Because I can. Why? I can't pull it off as one of the guards?"
"It's not that but why can't we be one of the guards?" Haru asked
"Is it because I'm a woman? Women can do stuff like this too! Feminism deserves more respect," Queen continued to defend.
"If you're going to pull the gender equality card on us then you could do it then," Haru said with a deadpan face.
"Thank you," Queen replied with a smug expression. "Now that the walking version of the Annoying Orange here has superpowers of some sort, it will be a lot easier for you guys to knock some people out."
