Kamden
"How long you think you can go about having these little meets with me before someone finds out?" She asked taking a sip of her drink as she sat across from me.
"It's not like that but you know how I am." I was trying my best not to get angry about how we had to do things.
"You can't keep it a secret Kam I can't keep sneaking out to see you. Soon they're going to find out and you're gonna have to face the problem."
"Fuck him!"
"That's our dad Kam."
"Nah Ky that's yo dad. He was there for you and yo mama but as for me and mine that nigga ain't do shit but fuck us up mentally."
"I'm sorry."
"You ain't got shit to be sorry for. He did this not you. I just hate I gotta sneak to see you and stuff because I don't wanna face him."
"I know. It'll get better Kam I promise." She gave me a slight smile before the waitress came over bringing our pizza.
I watched as she ate her pizza and began to tell me about how school was going. Kyra was my younger sister by my dad. He'd cheated on my mother with hers when I was about a year old. I didn't find out about her until a year ago. Once I did I made it my mission to see her and spend time with her. Try my best to get to know her. Of course no one knew I was doing this and I needed to keep it that way to avoid my dad at all costs.
"Have you talked to your mom since the incident?" I chewed the rest of my pizza before swallowing. Giving her my attention I pinched at my neck.
"Umm not like I need to no. Just a couple words every now and then. The shit getting old. I know I need to sit down with her but I don't want my anger to get in the way." She nodded. Her eyes darted around as if she was looking for something to say.
"Well I can't really give any good advice on that. I'll just say when you guys are ready to talk it'll happen. My mom told me the story."
"What story?"
"The one about your mom and dad."
"Why yo mama running her mouth about business that ain't hers to tell?" I could feel myself getting mad so I closed my eyes and counted to ten to calm down. My problem wasn't with Kyra so I wasn't going to make her suffer with my attitude.
"I don't know. I'm sorry I said anything. I'm sorry about everything okay? Can you take me back home now I'm full."
"You barely ate Ky. You took like two bites. Look I'm sorry I'm working on my temper."
"I'm happy for you Kam I am but I wanna go. My mom is probably looking for me." Sighing I ran my hands down my face before agreeing.
I paid for the food and got the pizza that was left over to go.
The car ride to my dad's house was silent Kyra just stared out the window the whole time.
