1. Excuse yourself
Everytime you look at your phone, it's like you are turning your back at the people you are talking to. If you absolutely need to answer a call, read a text or reply a text, or just check anything on your phone, just excuse yourself."Excuse me, i just need to take a look at something on my phone quickly"
2. Be mindful of other people
There are times or situation when it's considered rude to look at your phone. For example, in the middle of a business meeting, presentation and in the middle of a movie. the blazing light emitted by your phone might disturb other people.3. Silent or Vibration
There are certain situation when phone vibration can be tolerated but for something like a small meeting with 5 - 10 people present, phone vibration can be very distracting. Yes! vibration does produce sound, especially when you put it on the desk. So be smart and know when to use vibrate mode or total silent mode.4. Email signature
Nobody cares about what kind of phone your message came from. For example, Sent from my iPhone 5s, sent from my HTC One M7. In addition, nobody cares about quotation from some random people. So remove those automatic generated signature and don't put any quotation. Just a simple "Best regards" would do just fine.5. No phone at the table
Take your phone off when you are having a meal. breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, tea time. Either at a restaurant or at home. There are plenty of other time when you can check your phone.6. Don't peek!
I know some people have the tendencies to have a peek at what other people are doing with their phone. But peeking is a very creepy and inappropriate behavior. You might just get a slap if the person you peek at has a very low boiling point.7. Ask before you browse
When someone shows you something on their phone, they only meant to show you that one thing, only! Ask first to get their consent before you scroll through anything else. For some people, mobile phone can be a very private property to them. Maybe because of texts, notes, reminders, schedules or even bad selfies.8. Answer appropriately
"wassup", "howdy do", "yo", "nak apa setan", "weh, babi" "haaa"
These are examples of answers 'hip' people usually use. But let's admit it, sometime it is just inappropriate. A simple Salam or Hi in any language would be fine. To add to it, tell them your name. This helps the caller to quickly identify who is at the other end of the call and prevent any confusions.
"Hello, this is Joe"9. Be seated or stand fast
No one needs to know that you are a big shot. So relax, be seated and talk as much as you want on the phone. Stand if you have to but there is no need to roam half the office, cafe or house to speak on the phone.
